Warhammer 40K: The Epic Beards Of The Space Wolves

Games Workshop isn’t focusing on the epic stories and legends of the Space Wolves. Today it’s all about that facial hair!
It’s a well known fact that Space Wolves are like wine in that they get better with age. But how do you showcase that in miniature form? With epic facial hair apparently! Games Workshop is showing off the new head options from various Space Wolf kits that are coming to pre-order. To be fair, they did a great job with all the helmetless options. So let’s get into them!
“What the uninitiated don’t realise is that you can tell a lot about a Fenrisian from how he keeps his mane, and the distinctive differences are clear to see among all of their new plastic kits.”
Space Wolves Epic Beard Time
Starting off we have the new recruits. These are the Blood Claws — the fiery-blooded novitiates of the chapter. They are also the youngest members of the Space Wolves which is why only the pack leader has any real sense of facial hair. Anyhow, I’m seeing 15 different head options for this kit. That’s pretty cool for modeling options.
Now, once the Blood Claws get some experience under their belt (and some more hair on their chins) they get to join the Grey Hunters.
They might not be as impulsive as their Blood Claw brothers, but they still have a bit of that young-blood in them. You can see the different heads above. They certainly have more chin-straps of hair going on. More facial hair = more combat experience after all!
Next up we have the distinguished Wolf Guard Headtakers. What I really like about this squad is that while their beards are realtively close in length to the Grey Hunters, their helmets have tails now. Not only are the Space Wolves growing more facial hair as they get older, their helmets are getting more attention, too! But seriously, it’s neat that there are six different helmetless options. You could run an entire squad without helmets if you wanted to.
Now, if you really want to see some EPIC facial hair look no further than the Wolf Guard Terminators! These are the oldest and most well decorated of the Space Wolves. What’s really impressive is that each kit comes with a whopping 13 helmetless head options. There’s only five terminators in the box so you’ll have TONS of variation for them.
The Space Wolves are coming to pre-order this weekend with a bunch of great new kits. It’s going to be a good weekend to be a space viking!
If you sold beard and hair care products you could make a killing on Fenris.
