There’s a lot of units in the Horus Heresy and not all of them made the cut in to their Liber books. These free rules fix that.

Games Workshop and Forge World have been making miniatures for a long time. Many of the were for the Horus Heresy and got various rules throughout the game. There’s so many units that a few of them slipped through the cracks and didn’t make it in the new Liber books. And if you owned those models you might have been wondering what gives. Well, GW has heard you and they have released some free rules for those legacy models for both the Mechanicum and the Legiones Astartes.

“Following the release of Liber Mechanicum,* we have a selection of Expanded Unit army list entries to accompany it. As with the previously-published Legacies of the Age of Darkness – Legiones Astartes document, these entries allow players with older miniatures, or ones that aren’t really part of the core army, to continue using them.

The intent with the Expanded Units entries is that they remain a work in progress until such time as we produce new miniatures, or re-release old ones, at which point they will be published in their final “core” form in a book.”

Legion Astartes has a LOT more units…

The Mechanicum doesn’t have quite as many units as the Space Marines but there’s still some classic Mechanicum options listed.  If you have any of these units it’s worth downloading and taking a look. Games Workshop also released a handful of FAQs for the Horus Heresy as well.
