Modiphius’ ‘Heroes Of Might & Magic’ TTRPG Launches On Kickstarter To Rousing Success

The Heroes of Might & Magic RPG from Modiphius has already smashed its initial funding goal, and still has a whole month to go.
Modiphius’ new Heroes of Might & Magic RPG has officially launched on Kickstarter, and as of press time, it’s already a success, though by no means is the party over—it feels like it’s just getting started. The HOMM RPG comes alongside the upcoming new open world game from Ubisoft, which is just perfect because just the other day I started to think I might actually have some free time around December. Little did I know.
The Heroes of Might & Magic RPG – Kickstarting Now
The Heroes of Might & Magic RPG is a tabletop adaptation based on HOMM: III, The Restoration of Erathia. And that kind of specificity is wonderful because it tells me the developers not only know what they’re doing, they’re invested in the weirdo nerd details of the setting. Which is what you want.
Because otherwise, HOMM could very easily be a generic fantasy world, right? There’s a sort of base coat of “fantasy paint” that layers in the broad details, things like: “here’s the vaguely pastoral lands, in the rocks and crags live little guys who are kind of intense, in the deep woods are lithe guys who are kind of snooty, spells and dragons and swords to taste.” But it’s the details that separate your Erathias from your Noraths from your Azeroths.
And in Heroes of Might & Magic, that means focusing on conflict. Because part of what makes HOMM such a beloved series of games, is the idea that you’re playing big dang heroes leading armies to victory. You’ll play the commander—someone important enough to havet heir own unique character model and abilities if this was the video game. To that end, you can expect the RPG to be more epic:
“From the very beginning, you are a commander of an army, not a servant. Your party is bound not only by personal matters or simple greed, but by the intertwined fate of an entire continent.
Heroes [like the player characters] are capable of single-handedly crushing entire enemy units by using Might or Magic. The battles you will participate in are not static clashes of soldiers, but tactical wars of wit, fought to capture strategic objectives.
Together, build and expand your domain until your army is filled with legendary beings – Angels, Dragons, and more.
And the best part is, you don’t even have to wait until the Kickstarter is done and hits its expected release date of December 2025 (so probably March or April 2026), you can take the rules for a spin right now with a free quickstart preview on DriveThruRPG.
The Heroes of Might & Magic RPG Kickstarter runs until June 08th, so you’ve still got plenty of time to back!
Time to go remember everything about the 2d20 system!
