Age of Sigmar: ‘Scourge of Ghyran’ Ogor Mawtribes Rule Preview Rings The Dinner Bell

The Ogor Mawtribes are getting ready to attack the Realm of Life. It’s time to go on the warpath and feast like never before!
With all the armies of Age of Sigmar converging on Ghyran it’s going to be a ripe battlefield for feeding the bottomless maw that is the Ogor Mawtribes. Their hunger knows no limits. With two new battle formations, three Big Names, and two new alternate warscrolls, they are set to “eat good” with these rule updates.
“The last time we mentioned food here, it was on the tables of the Flesh-eater Courts – probably rotten and stinking to high Azyr. This time, the meal has been laid on by the biggest eaters in the Mortal Realms – the Ogor Mawtribes. So what have we got for dinner?”

Scourge of Ghyran Ogor Mawtribes Battle Formations
First up we have the Mawpath Menaces. This new battle formation grants the ability Fixated on Feeding. Essentially, it allows for an out-of-sequence move/charge for an Ogor Infantry unit. I think this could be a really potent interrupt if you can roll that 3+ and surprise your enemy.
Greedy Eaters is the other battle formation. this one allows you to bring back 1 slain model for up to D3 Ogor Infantry units. The targets had to be in combat with an enemy unit that was destroyed this turn however. This one might not be too hard to pull off but it’s only once per army. I don’t know if I would want to run this over other options due to the limit — but that’s just me.
Scourge of Ghyran Ogor Mawtribes Big Names
“There are three new Ogor honorifics in this update, all of which involve getting stuck in. Sometimes into an enemy unit, sometimes into lunch, and sometimes both. Gutslugger is pretty handy in a prolonged combat/dining experience, granting a bonus to hit when you haven’t charged. Mage-swallower doesn’t involve eating wizards, but some wizards did once get eaten, which is why this Ogor can worsen enemy Ward saves. Before the battle, the Megagobbler chooses a unit type (infantry, cavalry, monster, and so on) as its chosen meal. Every time they destroy/eat such a unit, they gain an Attack. How many Mega-Gargants could an Ogor eat? “

You can see the rules above for yourself. If I were going to choose one of these I think I’d just opt for the Megagobbler Big Name. If you can play your forces correctly, this character could end up with a TON of extra attacks. Plus, it’s something you can change every game. That type of versatility is great for Matched Play tournaments.
Scourge of Ghyran Ogor Mawtribes Warscrolls
In terms of Warscrolls, the alternate options are for the two war machines: The Ironblaster and Scraplauncher. For this alternate warscroll, the Ironblaster now has a new Shrapnel Blast option. I don’t know why you wouldn’t use that every round as it’s just an extra attack and causes this to also have Crit (2 hits). That’s just more potential damage overall.
For the Gnoblar Scraplauncher, the crew has been loading new scrap to launch. With Scrap Away, there’s the possibility to slow the enemy down with a rain of scrap. The odds of that happening increase against lightly armored units as well. So keep them pinned with those shards of scrap!
As always, these are Match Play legal and are available to use for free. Just use the new points and don’t mix these units with their previous warscrolls in the same list!
The dinner bell has been rung. But what’s on the menu tonight for the Ogor Mawtribes?
