RPG: Chaosium Names New CEO And Executive Producer For RPGs

A major staff shuffle unfolds at Chaosium as former Executive Producer Mike Mearls departs, and a new CEO is announced.
Chaosium announced a new CEO today, along with several other staff changes. The shakeup comes in the wake of the news that Chaosium’s former Executive Producer of RPGs, Ex-D&D developer Mike Mearls, is leaving the company to head for the tabletop behemoth, Asmodee, after 14 months at Chaosium. Accompanying that news, there’s movement across the board. Let’s take a look.
Chaosium Names New CEO – Neil Robinson
Chaosium put out its statement earlier today, revealing both Mearls’ departure and the appointment of its new CEO Neil Robinson. Robinson is a co-owner of Chaosium and has several years of experience with the industry, including running Canada’s first GloranthaCon and developing the LARP, Fall of House Malan.
And though the departure of Mearls is somewhat a surprise, it isn’t a sudden break, either. Alongside the new CEO appointment, Chaosium revealed that Mearls would be working on a few projects, both new and ongoing. Including the new edition of RuneQuest, currently in development. Asmodee recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with a new logo, and now, with Mearls.
Of course, in addition to the new CEO, Chaosium announced several other staffing changes. It seems like a lot of folks are moving up. A few new faces have joined as well:
“We’re pleased to announce some new staffing changes:
Neil Robinson, Chaosium’s chief operating officer (COO) has stepped up to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a new position in the company. As CEO, Neil leads the company and has overall responsibility for Chaosium’s operations.
Brian Holland, our marketing director, is taking on the role of Executive Producer for RPGs. Brian’s new role is to lead in the creation, implementation, and management of strategies to grow the company’s current and future tabletop roleplaying game lines, and working with producers and creative teams on the day-to-day delivery of products for each game.

Previously, in addition to BRP Jason was working on the RuneQuest Roleplaying in Glorantha line.

With Jeff Richard’s focus on the new edition of RuneQuest, Chaosium vice president Michael O’Brien will be taking on the Producer role for RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha, overseeing further products released for that line.
AdvertisementBridgett Jeffries has taken on the role of Chaosium Community Manager, a new full-time role in the company. In this new position, Bridgett acts as a bridge between the Chaosium development teams and the various active communities who play our games. If you’re active with Chaosium on discord or social media, you’ll likely interact with Bridgett directly!
We formally welcome Maciej Górkowski to the company as Production Manager. Bringing experience from the board games industry, Maciej coordinates our book and board game printing processes, working with printers for quotes, approvals and delivery. Maciej also works as a game developer in the Chaosium board games studio.
Chaosium also formally welcomes Dan Zappone to the team as an assistant editor and graphic design specialist. Over the years, Dan has built both digital and analog tools to make games run smoother and stories hit harder, always with an eye toward clarity, usability, and keeping things moving at the table. His recent Chaosium credits include working on the Basic Roleplaying Gamemaster Pack and Age of Vikings.”
Here’s looking forward to big things from Chaosium in the not too distant future.
Chaosium, despite the name, not in Chaos.
