Goatboy’s Grimdark Armylist: Emperor’s Children Takes Warhammer Open Edmonton!
Goatboy here with this week’s 40K armylist. John Lennon won the 250-player+ Warhammer Open in Edmonton, Canada with this awesome Emperor’s Children army!
Two weeks ago the pretty dang awesome John Lennon won the Warhammer Open in Edmonton, Canada with an Emperor’s Children list he has been working on. John is normally known for his spectacular Marine play so when I saw he was kicking butt with EC I was interested in looking at his list. It is pretty dang awesome to see such a different style army do so well for a player.
This was an over 250 player event run by Games Workshop. If you haven’t gone to one of GW events you really should as they are a lot of fun, run by some awesome people, and are just a great way to charge up your hobby engine. I always try to make at least one a year and if you are a competitive player or want to be I would say try one out that you can get too.

The Consequences of My Own Conceit – Tactics
As you can see it follows the normal build for Coterie of Conceited with most of the army built on the units you have available in the codex. The big new add on is the Maulerfiends which can help out a lot by punching up into tough things. They come in with a lot of high strength attacks that can easily pile in a ton of damage. You mix that in with some Melta fire and they can be a true little beast. The other parts of the army follow the common theme with some Daemon Princes doing some heavy lifting, the smaller units murdering things as needed, and the Noise Marines move up and hitting from the midfield.
It was always fun watching a game and seeing how crazy fast this army can be. You would see those Maulerfiends zip all around the table and be a big help when join was fighting off a ton of Great Unclean ones during the streamed game. Congratulations to John for winning the even and showing how a good player can pilot all different kinds of list.
