40K Tough Love – The Units Codex Orks Might Lose
The Orks are getting 6 new units with this codex, let’s take a look at what they may be losing.
This is shaping up to be a BIG huge new era for the Orks. Normally an army getting even 2-3 new units is a big deal – but so far the Orks are getting SIX!

- Custom Boostablasta
- Megatrakk Scrapjet
- Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy
Time for Cuttin
That is a wholesale reinvention of the buggy-small vehicle section of the army. Now we have seen that in every codex of 8th, GW has taken some scissors to the Index armylists and cut out items that are unavailable, or plain obsolete.
So far we have rumors of the ancient Big Guns getting the axe.
Looking over the GW Ork range and reading between the lines of the GW teasers so far here’s our best guess of what else is not gonna make it.
Now Forgeworld only…
Oddball HQs
We’ve seen the weird mounted HQs from many other armies get the axe and I think Orks will be the same. The Deffkilla Wartrike feels a lot like a Warboss on a trike so with no official models I think these Index HQ units won’t make the codex:

- Big Mek on Warbike
- Painboy on Warbike
So sneaky we can’t find the minis…
Missing Minis
Lots of Ork units don’t have minis and I have a educated guess they are out. Ardboys and Scarboys sound like they will be returning via stratagems, and don’t have models – so I think the likelihood of them getting full unit entries is little to none.

The Kommandos have no formal models either, so who knows. I guess it depends on if GW thinks they should get get unique models, can be represented by a strategem, or can just be Boyz with camo paintjobs.

The Little Vehicles
With the Warbuggies being replaced with 6 new models I think it’s a safe bet that the Warbuggy’s time is done. But a quick glance at the GW webpage shows the other two little vehicles are gone too. I’d argue that losing the old 3 for 6 new vehicles is no big deal.

Putting it All Together…
We’ll have to wait till this weekend, but I have a feeling that GW is not only rolling out 6 new vehicles, but reshaping the Ork army to be lean and mean, and pulling out some old stuff that they could still sell, but just don’t want to.
