The ETC 2013 has come and gone.  Lets take a moment to see where Warhammer 40k stands over a year into 6th edition in Europe, with the coming of the Eldar.

Kibo over at the ETC sent over this fantastic data breaking down all the attendees of the event.  Take a look at these!

Allies vs No-Allies Breakdown

Army Breakdowns by Primary vs Allied Detachments

Armies Who Played as Standalones – Without Allies

Now lets take a step back in time to what it looked like at the start of summer in the United States just after WarGamesCon (now TexasGamesCon) 2013:

Similarities
First of all, lets hit on the big similarities:

The BIG FOUR races that were the most common at both events on both sides of the Atlantic are:

-CSM
-Necrons
-Tau
-Imperial Guard

Floating around the “middle tier” are:

-Grey Knights
-Eldar
-Chaos Daemons

The other races either formed the “bottom third” or bounced around some.

Looking at geographic differences, we see a slight preference for Space Marines in America compared to a higher appearance of Tyranids in Europe.

Allies in Detail
The allies information is where it gets interesting.  Sure we know that Tyranids always go it alone, but take a look at who else commonly did:

We see very common no-allies lists for the following races:

-Tyranids (duh)
-Necrons
-Grey Knights
-Tau
-Chaos Daemons

Apparently many players feel these codices have what it takes to handle things all by themselves.

On the other end of the spectrum the following races NEVER appeared as standalone lists – and always brought a friend for support:

-Eldar
-Space Marines

This is where we sit ladies and gentlemen. Ahead of us is the unknown expanse of Space Marines, Tyranids and beyond along with more supplemental army books than you can shake a stick at. It will be interesting to see where the community will be six months from now.

What do you see in the data? Have at it folks.
