Privateer has a whole new sweet set of templates.  We take the Skorne set out for a spin vs Retribution.

Warmachine and Hordes can be a very accessory inviting system.  Many competitors have come out with whole template sets ranging from small widgets to 20+ piece kits.  Privateer has updated their old template set with a new faction specific kit.  It includes 3 pieces of measuring tools each with faction identifying colors or markings.  They come in a wide range of colors depending on your faction, the retribution is a striking blue , or the Menoth pictured above is a fiery orange.  I got my hands on the Skorne set and took them out for a first run.

The first is the new 10″ spray template.  It has 1″ intervals so you can use it more then just sprays.  Each spray is also has the 6″, 8″ and 10″ sprays clearly marked.  These strike force deserved some basilisk drake love!

Next is the 5″ Area of Effect template.  The 3″ , 4″ , and 5″ AOE’s are clearly marked.  The outer arrows are a definite improvement over the old templates so you have a better idea instead of just guess where that 6 is really pointing.  Here the Aradus Sentinel is cleansing more Strikeforce from the board.

The third piece in the set is a useful distance measuring piece.  It includes 0.5″, 1″, 2″, and 5″ edges.  It is quick and handy for measuring melee ranges or stealth.  The 1″ is great for precise movements.  They also have height indicators useful for determining line of sight over terrain.  Below we can see the strike force clearing off some Nihilators and a titan wondering can it clear a hyperion in 1 round.  Spoiler: it didnt!

The templates seem pretty sturdy and didn’t break when I put them to a bend test.  I like the kit.  The only knock I have is there is no 3″ measuring piece and they do show fingerprints, damn greasy tacos in Texas!’
