Ever wanted to raise monsters to scare your competition away? Then Isle of Monsters if for you!

The Tabletop Spotlight is on Isle of Monsters –  a game where you capture, feed and compete with your friends to see who will become the next island protector:

In this very kid friendly game, 2-5 players compete to see who’s stable of monsters has what it takes to become the island’s protector. It’s a really simple game that’s part Pokemon and part rock-paper-scissors.

The core game play is that you’re trying to get monsters and feed them the right foods so you can add them to your hand. Then you have to compare your monster stable against your friends. Because of how you capture and feed your monsters, this game is actually a really clever resource management game, too. A lot of the time you’re going to have to gauge the food supply vs the available monsters to see which monsters would be the most effective for that round.

To score, players have to add up how many points each monsters is worth. Who ever has the most monster points for that round wins that initial scoring. However, you can also get points for scaring the other monsters. Just because you might not have as many monster points doesn’t mean you’re going to get knocked out of the game.

Overall, Isle of Monsters is a neat family game that parents and kids will enjoy. If you backed it on Kickstarter, then you’re probably already playing it! But it’s now available online and at your favorite local retailers, too. So go check out Isle of Monsters!

Far away in the middle of somewhere lies a small collection of beautiful tropical islands filled with unusual plants and even more unusual creatures. The locals of the islands, fearless themselves, have learned how to use different combinations of local ingredients to transform the island’s animals into delightfully scary monsters. Though harmless, the monsters are used by the natives to keep the outside world afraid and away from their tiny island paradise.

As tradition dictates, the natives compete to capture the best creatures, feed them the right foods, and win scare competitions to determine who can earn the job of Island Protector. Can you and your fellow players take on the role of island natives and raise the scariest creatures?
