via Fantasy Flight Games

In the Arkham Horror: The Card Game Core Set, the Night of the Zealot campaign presented your first challenge while introducing you to the investigators, mechanics, and environment of Arkham Horror Files, providing a stable foundation from which you built your investigations out into the unknown and the unknowable. Now, you are invited to return home and begin a new challenge worthy of your expertise. Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce Return to the Night of the Zealot, an upgrade expansion for the Night of the Zealot campaign from the Arkham Horror: The Card Game Core Set, now available for pre-order at your local retailer or online through our website here!

If you have played Arkham Horror introductory campaign, this might all sound very familiar. Night of the Zealot is a three-part story that comes with the core set. This new expansion is revisiting that scenario with a few more twists and changes.

In a very Lovecraftian fashion, the scenario starts off similar to what you’ve already experienced – except this time everything has been tilted slightly. The stakes are higher and the challenges are greater. For example, in the original version of the scenario, the door to the room you start in vanishes and is replaced with a solid wall. But this time, a gateway appears –  are you willing to walk through it?

The agenda and act decks aren’t the only thing that has changed. New encounters have also been added to up the difficulty. These changes aren’t just for the first scenario either, there are changes across the entire adventure as well!

In total, the expansion will have sixty-six new cards divided between scenario, encounter and player cards. That’s right investigators, we’re getting a new batch of cards to aid us on this flashback scenario! One example FFG shared was the new and upgraded Rabbits Foot:

Rabbit’s Foot (Core Set)

For Veteran investigators, they will appreciate the new ability of Rabbit’s Foot as you’ll be able to draw even more cards with it when you fail. This might not seem like much, but it can make a big difference especially in higher difficulty games.

On top of that, there will also be special objectives you can complete. For example, you can earn the Pinch Hitter objective by defeating 3 Ghouls with the Baseball Bat without it breaking.

Are these new objectives just for bragging rights or will they have an impact later on in the game? We will have to wait and see how that plays out! If you’d like to learn more about this expansion you can read about it direct from FFG HERE. The Return to the Night of the Zealot is up for pre-order now and is slated for release in the second quarter of 2018!
