40K: The BIG Astra Militarum Survey
Who says serving in the Astra Militarum is a death sentence? It’s a hilarious…just don’t get caught laughing.
Someone at Games Workshop is really having some fun with the concept of Surveys. Yeah, I know what I wrote – but it’s totally true. Normally we check out the Regimental Standard and giggle, but this one was so good, we just had to share it.
Classic. As far as “in universe” publications go, I can totally see this survey being used to root out heretics and traitors improve the lives of Guardsmen everywhere. It’s right up there with the Imperial Infantryman’s Handbook.
If you’ve never gotten a chance to read one of these, they are a treat. Much like the survey above the tone of this collection is spot on. It’s got that black humor of “do these steps or face death” in the most ridiculous ways. In fact, if you’re an Infantryman and you don’t have your copy of The Imperial Infantryman’s Uplifting Primer you can be executed on the spot! Harsh times for a harsh universe. It just makes me glad I’m not in the Grimdark myself.
Am I suggesting we laugh at the plight of the Imperial Guardsmen? I mean …yeah? These things are meant as a satirical take on the life of fictional Infantrymen in the Grimdark Universe. If you enjoy this type of humor, it’s hilarious! If not, well, don’t watch British Comedies.
