Soulbound is in the final stages of playtesting, and today we’ve got a look at some of the things you can expect from the only roleplaying game set in the Mortal Realms. Come and see what Cubicle 7 have been getting up to with their work on Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound.

First things first, it’s pretty great to see all that terrain being put to good use–though I do wonder how much of the game will be reliant on your having the right kind of miniature and playing it. Will you be able to approximate the world and the combat in your mind, or is it basically hope that you have an AoS army or seven laying around. Even so, on this first set, you can see the new “Swarm” mechanics in action. Facing down dozens of Clanrats, a Grey Seer, and a Rat Ogor, the GM groups the smaller minion type creatures into a Swarm, allowing them to work together as a single tougher individual. Tis gives them a boosted Toughness and attack pool, and lets you play through massive fights in short order, since every 1 damage scythes through 1 member of the Swarm.

Over on the Haunted Well, the Soulbound experience the dangers of Environmental Hazards and rules for fighting ghosts like the Nighthaunts. Environmental Hazards occupy a particular zone–here defined as an area 30-50 feet in diameter, and the one Cubicle 7 is showing off today is called Chill of the Grave. It deals 1 damage, ignoring armor, to anyone starting their turn there has to deal with the chill touch of death.

It looks like the game is set to be as larger than life and over the top as its source material. So get ready for grand adventure in the mortal realms!

Happy Adventuring!
