Goatboy’s 40K – Meet the Noise Marine Bomb

Goatboy here and the Noise Marine is one of those units that almost seems good.  Let’s build something lean and mean.

In fact I would say all the units rules are good – the game is just not in a place to make them well – amazing.  You can also add on the fact they don’t have a newish model (The special edition Guitar Wizard doesn’t count) so it’s harder to get them on the tabletop.  Still it is something to think about and a reason to see if throwing together a few units might actually be good.  The bigger question is – do you go Emperor’s Children or do you go Alpha Legion?

Personally – my mind thinks Alpha Legion might be the way to go.  The big issue on the Noise Marines is getting them there.  While Emperor’s Children feels fluffy – they don’t have ways to magically make a 20 man squad either get closer, redeploy, or magically appear from the shadows.  This leaves me thinking I need to go with Alpha Legion to get a unit to work well.  It also pairs up better with some fun new rules and we can start to set up some combos with psychics, prayers, and other fun warlord traits and options.  With that little bit of intro – lets dive in deep and get 20 Noise Marines to work.

First – lets build the unit.  We got 20 of these guys with Sonic Blasters.  We’ll throw in the max Blast Masters just because they add more decent Heavy Bolter style shots.  Also the Blast Masters have a longer range so you can leave them towards the back to attach like a Tentacle to your Aura friends.  On top of all the shots you also could use them to charge as come in hot with 3 attack a piece if needed.

Noise Marines X 20 – Sonic Blasters X 18, Blast Masters X 2 – 356pts

Woo dawg that is a lot of points but stay with me on this journey.  I got some other ideas and other thoughts to shove into this army as well.  Things that just get weird as I started throwing points into an Army builder and came up with this weird hot mess that uses the Noise Marines, a Possessed bomb, and even some Obliterators to cover all the bases you need for a pure Slaanesh army of nonsense.  I bring you the army I like to call “Pure Hot Noise”.

Tactics – Bring the Noise!

So this list is just a pile of stuff shoved together that might work.  Does a super fast Possessed bomb scare you? Welcome to the Jungle.  Does 54 ignore cover shots scare your bubble wrap when its done twice?  Here ya go. Does a ton of 5+ inv save jerks with FNP scare you too?  How about just a ton of bodies running around the table top. Do you think you need to use the Alpharius trait to redeploy your guys?  Got that covered too.  How about pushing forward with 40 marines too?  There are a ton of things you can do that combos up with these weird tentacles of Chaos Space Marine goodness.

~Who knows if it works – but doesn’t it just sound cool?
