Good news for folks playing online, the Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount is even better on Roll20, couple that with Laeral Silverhand’s Explorer’s Kit and you’re golden.

Critical Role’s journey into Wildemount is only the beginning of the new releases this week. We’re going to take a look at Laeral Silverhand’s Explorer’s Kit as well as the digitally adapted version of Wildemount that you can find on Roll20. Let’s take a look at both of these products and dive right on in.

Laeral Silverhand’s Explorer’s Kit – $24.99

Lady Laeral Silverhand is the Open Lord of Waterdeep, a centuries-old archmage, and the daughter of the god of magic. In the Forgotten Realms: Laeral Silverhand’s Explorer’s Kit she guides you on your path to adventure. This new kit includes eleven dice in a durable, felt-lined box that functions as two dice trays. Fans can also enjoy the twenty illustrated, double-sided cards detailing Laeral’s expert insights on key characters, locations, and lore from across the Forgotten Realms, along with a foldout, double-sided map featuring the Sword Coast and city of Waterdeep.

This is a kit much like the expanded lore kit released for Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus. It’s chalk full of some setpiece cards that you can use as quick references, both as illustrations to show to your players, and as handy tidbits of lore you can call upon to inspire your next adventure. It’s all characterized with Laeral Silverhand’s perspective.

Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount (Roll20) – $49.95

The real gem though is Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount on Roll20. You can read our review of the book here–you’ll find all the same information in it but here it’s collated, indexed, and ready to use in your Roll20 games.

Roll20 Features:

  • The complete book textincluding the Wildemount Gazetteer module that contains 4 short adventures, rollable tables and macros, and 23 full-color maps already set up with GM layer info and Dynamic Lighting (Plus/Pro subscribers).
  • 12 racesand 2 new backgrounds with D&D Charactermancer support.
  • 30 new monsters, 70 unique items, and 15 spells.
  • Character art pack.

I cannot tell you enough how amazingly easy to use these Roll20 modules are. The Charactermancer does a fantastic job of keeping the information you need to run your character close at hand, saving you a ton of work. Whether you’re a player or a DM looking to use this book, Roll20 has some of the best functionality.

All you have to do is plug in and play. The rollable tables, in particular are a great treat. It’s easier than ever to see a chart in the book, click on it, and get your results. This is especially handy in the Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount, as it lets you walk through the whole Heroic Chronicle system as a breeze. The Heroic Chronicle is a series of rollable tables, sometimes with 1d100 worth of options to pick from, so having a quick and easy way to get through this, especially when starting an online adventure is handy. All you have to do is click and go.

Plus you’ll get all the normal features like maps with dynamic lighting, fog of war, and other ways of getting info where you want it. Again, especially useful if you’re looking to play D&D online.
