The Trions have risen from the oceans to save their planet – let’s check out the Steel Shell Crab and Psi-Eels units now available for the Protectors!

The first unit pack for Tritons is in stores now, let’s take a look.

Steel Shell Crab

Move over G-Tanks and Exo-Armors! The Steel Sheel crab may be the new king of the defense game. With a base Defense of 4, plus the Dig In rule, these Crabs are an excellent choice for securing buildings and Power/Negative zones.

The Amphibious rule is what puts the Steel Shell Crab into the top spot for securing buildings, often there is a key location that secures multiple buildings, but it happens to be water. This means units like the G-Tank can’t stand there to secure it, so you needed to make sure your list had a few models with Flight. Now the Steel Shell crab can replace the need for those flying units, giving you more space to bring whatever else your heart desires.

Steel Shell Crab Elite

Pretty standard Elite unit here. All the same rules, plus Commander for the Steel Shell Crabs.

Psi-Eel

The Psi-Eel is a very interesting model that I think will see a lot of play. The Hazardous rule jumps out as the biggest reason why I want to run (at least) one in my list. Being able to do extra damage to enemy monsters is fantastic – although it may be tricky to pull off.

Luckily the Psi-Eel isn’t just a one-trick pony, Telekinesis is a welcome new ability for the Protectors. Being able to move a unit at will, friendly or enemy, has a ton of great potential uses. Destroyers have long had the ability to send a Crawler turn 1 into the enemy side of the board via Underground Network. Protectors haven’t really had great answers to this – now Telekinesis is an option, although it still costs 3 Action dice total.

In addition, the Psi-Eel is fast, decent defense and a good melee attack. Overall a solid 2 cost unit.

Wrap Up

This unit pack is a good one, especially for people excited to finally have units to play with Krackenoctus. Tritons are shaping up to be a very strong Protectors faction!
