Asmodee Providing Many Of Their Games For Free

4 Minute Read
Apr 20 2020

While you’re bored in the house and in the house bored, pick up a few Print-‘n-Play games! Including Catan, KeyForge and Love Letter with a Dating App spin.

In the last few weeks, I’ve tried to provide a few options for playing games while the world in on lockdown, like a few of my favorite mobile games and some options for playing games online (mostly) for free. Today, we add another option to the list, some great family-friendly games that you can print out from home. Plus, they are being officially released by Asmodee, so no questionable morality on downloading it! Rad!

Normally I would hyperlink some text and say something like you can find these downloads by clicking here. But in this case, I really need you to see the full URL:  https://print-and-play.asmodee.fun/

How adorable is the .fun domain? Answer: Very. I didn’t even know that was an option. I’m writing a letter to my boss about switching over to belloflostsouls.fun.

My Suggestions

Right off the bat, I’ll admit I don’t know all of these games. But I do have a few ones that I do know and particularly enjoy.

Catan

Obviously.

You’ll need a very large printer.

Also, may I direct you towards a drinking variant I wrote up a few years ago?

Concept

Pictionary is great if you can draw. For the rest of us, it’s a horrifying experience being up there, so confident and so sure everyone will instantly recognize your pigeon drawing. But that’s never how it goes. Concept saves us from that nightmare.

Instead of drawing, you place game pieces on the various icons across the board to indicate the ….concept of what you’re trying to get across.

Unlock!

Unlock! is a cooperative puzzle card game with an escape room theme. I love puzzles and escape rooms but Unlock! is right up my alley.

I was a little skeptical of the concept at first. But by using the companion app in keeping a timer and the clever numbered card system for checking if your deductions are correct, Unlock! does a really good job of giving that escape room vibe.

Dobble

Dobble is a very child-friendly game which requires picture matching and reflexes.

Players race to find an icon that matches from the card in their hand to the card in the center of the table. There are many, many versions of this game out there but it’s a great way to keep your kid’s mind sharp while we’re all stuck indoors.

Love Letter: Sender

I had to mention this one separately because it’s not listed on that Print-‘n-Play page. Love Letter got a dating app makeover.

Fish Guy. You can be a catfish. Genius.

If you don’t know Love Letter, it’s the perfect warmup game for any game night, and for bringing people out of the darkness of thinking Monopoly is a good board game. Also Coup. That’s unrelated, but it’s like, the perfect game.

Final Thoughts

All of these games are great and they’re all mostly geared towards playing with your family. They are light, simple games which everyone can enjoy. There’s something to be said about the hassle of a print-‘n-play game, and I get that. But a few tips to save ink. That stuff’s mad expensive:

  • Print on Draft setting for lower quality, but less ink usage.
  • Use print preview before each print. Mistakes waste ink.
  • Print in black and white. Color cartridges are usually smaller and cost the same. So color ink is more expensive. Lame.
  • Clean your print head.

That’s all for today! Happy printing!

Author’s note: Apparently we’ll be staying as belloflostsouls.net, which is FINE, I guess.
