Daniel looks to his past to find a way forward.

The YouTube series turned Netflix favorite is back for a new season! If you’re not already watching you can catch the first two seasons are on Netflix – it’s great.

Thirty years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, a down-and-out Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo, reigniting his rivalry with a now successful Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), who has been struggling to maintain balance in his life without the guidance of his mentor, Mr. Miyagi.

If you haven’t watched the first two seasons and care about spoilers, I’d stop here.

The first trailer for season three gave a glimpse of Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita) and Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) from Karate Kid Part II. It also shows the major repercussions of the brawl at the end of season two, which has left Miguel in a coma and Robby in juvenile detention.

Daniel and Johnny have to find a better way for themselves and their students. There’s a lot of rebuilding and changing coming up. This clip gives a hint to how Kumiko fits into Daniel finding his way and a possible way to help his students by looking to the past…

Cobra Kai Season 3 premieres on January 8th on Netflix.
