The briny deep is about to get more exciting…

The latest season of Warhammer Underworlds, Harrowdeep, is available for preorder now, and it already looks like a breath of fresh sea air for the skirmish battlefield. With new and updated rules, a brand new undersea setting, and a pair of nifty new warbands, this is a must-have for fans of the skirmish wargame. However, Harrowdeep is only breaking the surface of all the excellent new content coming in the new season, and it only looks to be getting better from here.

In the first quarter of next year, we’re getting not only a new Rivals deck to work with the new playstyle introduced in Harrowdeep but a brand new warband. Judging by the crossed swords and the fact that we’ve already had a tease of a new parrot mini, this is definitely going to be a pirate warband, something a few avid gamers have requested for quite some time. But what kind of pirates will these be? Will they be privateers from Sartosa, Druchi raiders from Anvilgard, or maybe the long-awaited Vampire Coast? I personally hope for the latter, and perhaps a model for Count Noctilus, since I was a massive fan of the defunct Dreadfleet ship combat game back in the day. Regardless, it will be an exciting first quarter, and it only gets better from there.

The second quarter brings us a brand new core set for new players, complete with two brand new warbands and another new addition to Harrowdeep related to lightning. While we already know that the Stormcast are the primary lighting faction in AoS, it could potentially be Air Temple Lumineth, Dawnbringer Crusades, or maybe even one of the brand new factions rumored to be making the rounds in the next couple of years. So we’re left with the question of whether the new core box will include the Pirate and Lightning warbands or something completely new. I would imagine the latter from the design on the hex, but again, we’ll need to wait until the middle of next year to find out.

Are you looking forward to the new factions?
