Marvel unveiled a She-Hulk teaser trailer reminiscent of a courtroom drama. Get ready! Shulky will be smashing into a courtroom in 2022.

Disney+ Day brought us many Marvel gifts. A Moon Knight teaser, a look at the upcoming Ms. Marvel, announcements for the new X-Men ’97 show… and the She-Hulk teaser trailer. Finally, Jennifer Walters gets the courtroom dramedy she rightfully deserves.

Who is She-Hulk?

Jennifer Walters is Bruce Banner’s cousin. She’s a lawyer, and she’s brilliant– but just a little timid. After suffering a gunshot wound, she was given a transfusion of Bruce’s blood. His gamma-irradiated blood transformed her into the savage She-Hulk.

In John Byrne’s 1989 run on the comic, Jen often stopped to speak directly to the reader. Her 4th-wall breaking style, confidence, and quick wit have made for some hilarious reading over the years.

What We Saw in the She-Hulk Teaser Trailer

The She-Hulk teaser didn’t give us a solid look at Jennifer’s green face, but we did catch some shots of her arms and legs looking green and mighty. We also get red carpet Jen– even if it’s just from the waist down.

VFX crew could still be working on her, or showrunners could be waiting to reveal the look closer to the show’s premiere. Either way, we’re ready for Jen to serve face.

Of course it’s natural that Bruce Banner should return to the MCU to help tell Jennifer’s story. It also appears that we get a glimpse of the gamma lab he mentioned in Avengers: Endgame, where he figured out the trick to sharing his body and mind with Hulk.

Bruce could be working to help Jen maintain the same stasis he was able to master. These experiments will likely allow her to live as She-Hulk practically full-time.

Jen looks to be inside a kind of Hulk-containment room. She’s wearing some extra-baggy clothes, probably in preparation for a go at Hulking-out. In this scene, we also notice that Bruce is ‘smart Hulk’ but his arm isn’t in a sling.

What’s Next for She-Hulk?

From Endgame to the Shang-Chi post credits scene, Bruce’s arm has been in pretty rough shape. Even back to his puny-Banner size, his arm is still strapped in to a sling. Fans have wondered– just how serious is this injury? Is it permanent?

Okay sure, Bruce could be all better now. Or the series, or at least this scene, takes place during the 5 years between Infinity snaps. During the blip, Jen could even a part of Bruce’s journey toward working through “anger and fear” to make peace with the Hulk.

And then there’s this 4th-wall breaking procedural show promo scene. Featuring the best hair, glasses, and plaid of the time, there are a number of ways this could figure in to the story.

Many theorists believe this could be the works of an imaginative Jennifer. But this dated broadcast does have a WandaVision feel about it…

The Cast & Crew of She-Hulk

The series will star Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) as Jennifer Walters. Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner.

The Good Place’s Jameela Jamil has been cast as the villain Titania. Tim Roth will also reappear as Emil Blonsky/Abomination, though based on his good-natured fight with Wong in Shang-Chi, he may have changed his tune.

The cast also includes Renée Elise Goldsberry (Hamilton) and Ginger Gonzaga (Space Force). There are also rumors that Megan Thee Stallion will appear in the show, either has herself or in a recurring role.

Megan might not be the only pop icon to lend their talents to She-Hulk. In the comics, Jennifer has a very spicy fling with the Eros, Marvel’s Starfox, played by Harry Stiles. She also later represents him in a court of law.

Starfox just made his first appearance in an Eternals post credits scene, so he could cross paths with the single green female in 2022. And if Eros’ arc pulls inspiration from the comic book, his case could put She-Hulk in the position to have some important conversations about consent and power dynamics.
