‘Tis the season for holiday movies choc-full of dark comedy. But in Silent Night, things get darker– because it’s the day the world ends.

A group of friends gathers at Christmas to celebrate the holiday with their kids. But this isn’t your typical Christmas comedy. That’s because this fantastic cast is dealing with the fast-approaching apocalypse in Silent Night.

This looks perfect for dark humor fans that have the need to avoid excessive holiday cheer (like myself). I’m happy to see JoJo Rabbit‘s Roman Griffin Davis doing projects like this. He has fantastic timing for an actor of his age. The rest of the cast is pretty fantastic, too.

Silent Night stars Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Roman Griffin Davis, and Annabelle Wallis. Lily-Rose Depp, Ṣọpé Dìrísù, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Lucy Punch are also cast members. The movie is written and directed by Camille Griffin and produced by Matthew Vaughn (the Kingsman franchise).

Nell and Simon have invited their closest friends to join their family for Christmas dinner at their idyllic home in the English countryside. As the group comes together, it feels like old times – but behind all of the laughter and merriment, something is not quite right. The world outside is facing impending doom, and no amount of gifts, games or Prosecco can make mankind’s imminent destruction go away. Surviving the holidays just got a lot more complicated.

Silent Night is in theaters and on AMC+ December 3.
