Star Wars: All of the ‘Kenobi’ Disney+ Day Sneak Peek Reveals

3 Minute Read
Nov 16 2021

Disney+ Day was last Friday, and while there wasn’t a ton of new info for Star Wars fans, we got a few quality bits of insight into Kenobi.

Friday’s Disney+ Day had loads of exciting announcements for fans of the MCU, but felt a little lacking in the Star Wars department. When coupled with the indefinite push-backening of Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron and the uncertainty of the galaxy’s cinematic future, it’s easy to feel like Disney is putting Star Wars on the back burner to focus on other IPs.

But between Book of Boba Fett, season three of The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, season two of The Bad Batch, and of course, Kenobi, there’s a lot to look forward to on the two-sunned horizon. Included in the Disney+ Day drop was a short promotional video about Kenobi, and though it’s little, it’s chock-full of confirmations, concept art, and reveals.

Hayden Christensen’s Role

We’ve been excited about Hayden Christensen’s return to Star Wars since it was announced. But it wasn’t completely clear if he would be back as Vader or Anakin, which left us to wildly speculate. It’s finally been confirmed that we will be seeing the Sith lord himself and that Hayden returned to saber training in preparation for the role.

Previously we’d thought that Kenobi and Vader hadn’t seen each other prior to Episode IV since Kenobi lost his brother (“from a certain point of view”) on Mustafar. But it’s looking like the two may face off in the upcoming Disney+ series. I’m hoping for a reunion as emotionally charged as Vader’s with Ahsoka in Star Wars Rebels.

We’ll See An Inquisitor

Inquisitors are one of those things we love to hate. They’re scary, more than dangerous, and probably want your favorite Force-user dead… but they’re also so darn cool! And honestly, they have some of the best lightsabers in the galaxy.

Unfortunately for Obi-Wan, it looks like one will be making an appearance in Kenobi. Our assumption is that the inquisitor will be hunting Obi-Wan throughout the series, either causing him to leave Tatooine for a bit or catching his trail once he leaves the planet for other business. Speaking of…

It’s made clear through the Disney+ Day teaser that Kenobi spends much of Kenobi not on Tatooine. But we’re not totally sure where the show will take him.

Colorful cityscapes like this one could be any number of highly-developed,  urban planets. We could be looking at one of the galactic fan-favorites like Coruscant, but there are countless cities and systems it could be. There are also some cities that the writers haven’t even told us about yet.

After the Disney+ Day teaser, we have more questions than answers. Which inquisitor will we be seeing in live-action? How quickly will Obi-Wan recognize his former apprentice? If they’re about to cross lightsabers and presumably both walk away, why didn’t Vader follow Kenobi home and finish the job? (It’s the sand, isn’t it?)

One thing’s for sure, we’re looking more forward than ever to watching the upcoming and long-awaited Kenobi series.

Are you excited about Kenobi? What systems and cities do you think he’ll visit in the show and what business do you suppose he has there? Who else do you think will make an appearance in this show? Let us know in the comments!

May The Force Be With You, Adventurers!
