I really want to type witty comic book words here but Saga is back and all I can do is squeal about my pull list for Jan. 26th, 2022.

If you’re a comic book or manga reader, chances are Wednesday is your favorite day of the week. Whether you run to your local comic book shop or check your digital subscriptions as soon as you get home, it’s New Comic Book Day. Rejoice!

Here’s what on my pull list for Jan. 19th, 2022! Finally! Saga!

Saga #55– It feels like a whole lifetime ago since we had a new issue of Saga. And plenty of really big, important things happened when the story left off.

This 44-page double-issue will address what Hazel and the rest of the crew have been up to since we last saw them. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been missing all of the high-flying adventure and foul language Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples brought to my life with this story.

Since the comic’s return was announced, I’ve been playing catch-up on the story. So some of the more tragic events still feel… fresh. But I’m ready and prepared to catch up with all of my favorite characters again. Let’s go.

Deadly Class #50– Saya is at a crossroads. In one direction, she’ll become the head of the Kuroki Syndicate and walk the path that was drawn for her. But her need for vengeance could destroy all of that in the second part of “A Fond Farewell”.

Robin #10– Damian Wayne has a pretty complicated family tree, and all of their lives depend on his actions as he faces of with Mother Soul. With the help of an unexpected ally, Robin will go head-to-head with his own great-grandmother. And when the dust settles, the fate of the DCU will change forever.

Peacemaker: Disturbing the Peace #1– Fans of James Gunn’s new show Peacemaker, get ready. Legendary comic book writer Garth Ennis (The Boys, Preacher) weaves a pre-Suicide Squad tale about our beloved problematic hero, Christopher Smith’s Peacemaker.

When a curious psychiatrist digs into Christopher’s background, readers will get a look at exactly what the hero was up to before going to prison. Packed with violence, trauma, and foul language, this story seems like a natural pairing between character and writer.

Cruel Summer– Superstar noir team Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips join forces again to tell a story of crime and generational trauma. Taking place in the summer of 1988, Ricky Lawless and his friends are courting the same life of crime laid out for them by their fathers.

I’ve been on-board with any crime story from this team since I first devoured the pages of Fatale. If you’re looking for a crime noir fix, look no further than Cruel Summer.

Previews: Comics Releasing 1/26/22

What’s on your pull list this week? Tell us down below in the comments. We respect your choice to collect digitally– a comic book library? In this economy?

But if you see something you absolutely need to own in the meatspace, be sure to head to your local comic book shop!
