Warhammer 40K: Chapter Approved 2022 – What You Need To Know

4 Minute Read
Jan 22 2022

We’ve got a look at the Chapter Approved 2022 and this next season is going to be a wild one for Matched Play.

When it comes to Matched Play the new Chapter Approved has some new tricks for the new season. Goatboy is here to share his reactions:

Chapter Approved 2022 – It’s A Game Changer

We covered most of the highlights of the new Chapter Approved 2022 edition. There are 3 major areas where the game will be changed. The first big change is how Primary Objectives work. How? The missions have two primaries now. Personally, I’m not sure how you can have two primaries of things…but whatever. The point is that how you score each mission’s Primary Objectives has changed.

Secondary Objectives have also had some altercations. Players will have to choose two secondaries from the mission pack and one more from their codex or codex supplement. This should force some changes in how individual armies can score to keep things more interesting.

Fortifications got a new rule to help with deployment, too. This should allow armies to toy around with bringing some defensive options for their deployment zone. Now you’ll have a more reliable way to ensure your Fortications can actually be placed on the tabletop.

Army List Building also changed. Now, all your selectable sub-faction keywords have to be the same. This is another swipe at “Soup Lists” but more acutely targets armies that might have dabbled with the same army but different sub-factions. Goatboy mentioned the example of Grey Knights — with these new rules, the units all have to be from the same Brotherhood keyword.

The new Chapter Approved 2022 also contains points updates for just about every army in the game. We’ve covered a lot of those changes already as well but you’re going to want to take a look at your specific army for those changes.

Unfortunately, there maybe be a slight delay on getting your hands on this book here in the US. We don’t have all the details but the book is up for Pre-order on the UK site but not the US site. But it basically boils down to the shipping backlog and other shipping issues in the US at this time. But don’t fret — it’s coming!
