Kamala Khan is an Avengers stan who finds herself with some out-of-this-world powers. Here’s a breakdown of the MCU’s newest trailer.

The MCU’s newest hero is a teenage Pakistani girl with some incredible powers. And in the newest trailer for the upcoming summer show Ms. Marvel, fans are getting a closer work at just how those powers work. The trailer also contains some lovable call-outs to the original comic book. Here are all the feel-good details we found in the new Ms. Marvel trailer.

Ms. Marvel Daydreams

When we first see Kamala, we’re introduced to her daydreams. The trailer opens with her fan-girl doodles of Ant-Man (and Man-Ant). The Marvel logo is doodled in a very specific comic book format, which works really well with Kamala’s fandom lifestyle. In the Marvel comics, Marvel comics actually exist. So the opening Marvel logo has that cute meta-feel to it.

Later, when we see her in the hallways at school, she’s wearing a T-shirt with the Wasp, Valkyrie, and CaptainMarvel on it. Hello, A-Force! And to think, one day she’ll probably be teaming up with those ladies. We also get some more glimpses of the Captain Marvel cosplay that Kamala puts together.

Like every teenage girl, Kamala has a rich fantasy life. In it, she’s Captain Marvel and nails the “super-hero landing” that’s become famously funny in super-movies.

Kamala Khan’s Powers

In the previous teaser, we got a peek at Kamala’s powers and how she wields the same purpley-blue light associated with Carol and Monica’s powers. When she’s asked how it feels, she uses the word “cosmic.”

In the comics, Kamala is an Inhuman, and that’s where her powers come from. The source of her powers in the MCU will certainly be different, but will they still be polymorphic? Well, kind of.

We get a pretty clear clip of her doing her famous embiggen fist. A clue to her power source may lie in the scene where her eyes glow like Monica Rambeaux’s eyes in WandaVision. But Kamala clearly has some kind of cuffs that can imbue her with cosmic powers.

It’s great that Kamala will still have her embiggen fists. She’s also got her own version of Sparklefists. “Princess Sparklefists” is a nickname given to Carol in the comics by the original Kree Captain Marvel. It will be great to see if Carol is the one who hands that nickname down to Kamala.

More Easter Eggs!

We also get some great looks at the Circle Q convenience store. In the comics, it’s clearly one of the teenager’s hang spots. And in the comics, it later becomes the new Ms. Marvel’s superhero base.

We also see Kamala shielding herself from a bright light that may be coming from four silhouetted figures. It’s hard to know for sure if these figures are friend or foe, but some fans believe they’re the ClanDestine. This super-powered family are the children of D’jinn, and could be in Jersey City to cause some kind of ancient mischief.

There’s also the briefest clip of Kamala fighting or training with a guy in a mask. This very well could be Red Dagger, who later becomes an ally and love interest of Kamala’s. He’s a Pakistani vigilante who comes to living with the Khans through an exchange program.

Finally, we see the New York City skyline… which still has no clues as to who bought Avengers Tower. But we didn’t expect it to. Kamala has her own story and probably won’t interconnect with Phase 4 until her own story has been told.
