Games Workshop has unveiled the contents of the new Necromunda: Ash Wastes boxed set and we’re super pumped for these 5 things.

In case you missed it, Necromunda: Ash Wastes is the new boxed set coming to pre-order this weekend and we’ve never been more ready to drive into the wasteland and search for glory. GW has shown off the contents and we’re already revving our engines on what parts get us the most excited. Here’s what we can’t want to tear open and get into the most.

Ash Wastes Nomads

It’s a new gang! We’re always excited to see new models and when GW releases an entire pack of new gangers it’s like a mini Christmas for us. We love the look of these guys and the fact that GW introduced not only a new gang but some crazy mount-sized insect life from Necromunda is just cool.

New Terrain

We love a good set piece and the new Terrain in the box looks like a lot of fun. The hobby and modeling opportunities are endless with this kit. Plus it looks like it’s going to be compatible with all the other recent 40k Terrain as well. I’m really wanting to combine this with the Zone Mortalis: Underhive Market to create a Junk-town type settlement. Maybe I’ll sprinkle in some of the Gang Stronghold terrain to make it more fortified. Oh the possibilities…

New Rulebook

So the other day a buddy of mine asked to borrow the Necromunda Rulebook. I was hesitant to lend it out. Why? Because at this point I’m a little confused as to which rulebook I should let him borrow! Don’t forget that Necromunda had a relaunch with a pair of slightly different rules for the game. Then there was Dark Uprising. And I think the latest book is from Hive War. Which I’m pretty sure had essentially the same book. Speaking of books, there’s all the “House Of” books, too.

Anyhow, my point is there were a few books rattling around along with slight variations of reference books, too. In an effort to keep the confusion to a minimum, I suggested he just wait until the new and updated rules come out. The Ash Wastes is getting its own rulebook and it should be the most current and correct version of the base game to play. Plus it’s going to introduce something else we’re excited about…

Vehicle Combat

While Ash Wastes isn’t JUST about vehicle combat, there’s going to be a fair bit. We’re REALLY looking forward to seeing how the rules for the Cargo-8 Ridgehauler work. On top of that we’re curious about other rule for vehicles. There’s one faction in particular we’re curious about showing up in the Ash Wastes. Not just because they are also an army in 40k, but because they have a bunch of generic vehicles that are perfect for conversions.

Just throwing that out there. Plus GW did mention Dirt Bikes being a mount option

More Orlocks!

I’ve been an Orlock fan since the first iteration of Necromunda and never stopped being a fan. I had mixed feelings about the revamped models at first but they’ve grown on me. And now we’re getting even more Orlocks with the Outrider Quads and Forge World is even getting in on the mix with an upgrade pack, too.

These aren’t in the box — but I’m still excited about them!

I’m all in on this one and I’ll be representing House Orlock with my own crew for sure! Someone’s gotta make sure those shipments make it across the Ash Wastes. Might as well get paid to make it happen!

Gang before House. House before the rest.
