Two 196os classic films bring the Doctor forward through time so you can watch Doctor Who in 4K. What a time to be alive!

Two classic Doctor Who films will see remastered releases this summer thanks to Studio Canal. Doctor Who and the Daleks and Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. will be available for purchase in the U.K. And just before that, these beautifully remastered features will double-bill in cinemas. Peter Cushing’s version of the Doctor is a topic of controversy amongst classic Who fans. Is this guy even the Doctor?

Classic Doctor Who in 4K

Love it or hate it, to date, these two Doctor Who films are the Doctor’s only appearances on the big screen. And you have to admit, this second time around looks beautiful. The films were originally directed by Gordon Flemyng. The two films, originally filmed in Technicolor, are coming back to life in 4K this summer, so we can all make a day of arguing over whether or not these films are canon.

Dr. Who and the Daleks

DR. WHO & THE DALEKS (1965) was the first big screen film adaptation of British TV’s most iconic sci-fi hero, and the first time Doctor Who was ever seen in colour. Having invented the TARDIS, a strange machine capable of travelling into other dimensions, the Doctor and his three young accomplices set forth on a quest through time and space. Their journey takes them into the dark, undiscovered depths of the universe and to the planet of Skaro, a primitive world devastated by nuclear war and populated by two warring species, a peaceful tribe known as Thals and a life form heavily mutated by radiation, encased in protective machines, a merciless force of destruction known as The Daleks!

Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.

The second film, DALEKS’ INVASION EARTH 2150 A.D sees Cushing return to the big screen – the future of Planet Earth now belongs to The Daleks, but deep within the London Underground a group of resistance freedom fighters are planning an attack. Can The Doctor help them succeed in destroying their extra-terrestrial enemies and take back control of Earth?

Catch ‘Doctor Who’ in 4K in theaters on July 10th. The UHD Collector’s Editions, steelbooks, and digital editions will release on June 20th and July 18th.
