Does the original Buzz Lightyear live up to the toy version we all know and love? Find out in the One of Us crew’s Lightyear review.

Pixar’s latest is the story of Buzz Lightyear. Not the Toy Story Buzz, but the character that the toy was merch of. You see, an opening scrawl informs us that the young Andy’s favorite movie was…this movie. I guess in the context of the Toy Story universe, the original voice actor for Buzz wasn’t under contract to do the doll so now we have Chris Evans voicing him.

The story follows him as a Space Ranger on a long voyaging deep space ship that takes a break from its journey to investigate life signs on a newly discovered planet. Unfortunately for Buzz and the rest of the crew of the ship, things do not go smoothly. Partially due to Buzz’s overconfidence in his abilities, they find themselves stranded with their only hope to recreate the crystals that power their ship from scratch. With Buzz as their primary pilot, he tests each new version that needs to power their test flight ship to be able to reach a certain speed. The only problem is, each time he goes up in the test ship, minutes pass for him, years for everyone else.

And then, of course, Zurg. Chris, Frank, Sarah, and Spider-Mike took this film on a test flight and let you know if it hits hyperspeed or if it just coughs up a hairball.
