Come take a look alongside your faithful Primaris Lieutenant, at the mysterious Eternal City.

If you tuned in last time you know, how our story starts. In the hectic days of the Indomitus Crusade the safety of Holy Terra was utmost in Guilliman’s mind. To insure it’s safety he dispatched troops to inspect the fortifications. One such envoy was Primaris LT. Antonius aided by the trusty  Guardsman Privit. Upon arriving on Terra however, they found that due to a Warp Rift they’d be transported to the distant past of the world.

Still, orders are orders, and they set out to make sure the defenses were in good shape. After touring Canada and seeing some great forts, the pair hoped in a Warp Rift hoping to end up home. Sadly for them, it simply took them across Old Terra to a new location: Italy. After touring the north, the pair made their way to a place known as “The Eternal City”.

For the last few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of traveling Italy seeing various castles and other sites.  As  is my tradition, I also took along some minis to view the trip and photograph. I figured the most fitting model to take on my travels was a ubiquitous Primaris Lt., the model soon to make up 100% of GW’s line up. Along with him, and returning from other trips is Guardsman Privit.   Here are a few of the highlights my little friends saw along the way.

Entering the grand city they found architecture worthy of any Imperial city of their time. Grand and gothic buildings littered the city. Was this where the Imperium had drawn design inspiration from?

Seeking signs of corruption Antonius was drawn to an old building called the Pantheon. Was this some dark fane to the Chaos Pantheon?

A detailed inspection of the interior relived no signs of corruption here.

They next visited an ancient arena. Guardsman Privit marveled at the colossal size.

The arean reminded Antonius  of stores he had heard of the traitor Primarch, Angron. Had the Red Angel fought in such as place as this before his father found him?

Wandering around they found many more monumental ruins.

To Guardsman Privit these massive monuments to old Terran conquers seemed familiar and normal.

Antonius however had a moral visceral reaction. This place… it was like Ultramar. So eerily similar, was his home just a pale copy of this ancient Terran city?

Not just a copy he realized. A fallen one. Here was the ruin of an Empire, in its own place and time as might as the Imperium. Here was a lesson, should the Emperor falter, then Ultramar itself would share this fate. It sent a chill through him.

Privit, not catching his bosses mood, simply wondered when the horse races would start.

Not all here was ruins though. They were able to fine many grand buildings. One proto-Imperial temple, (Privit thought it belonged to the Catheric sect, that was connected to the blessed Saint Ollanius Pius) could have fit in on many Imperial worlds.

Even Antonius found it impressive.

His attempts to praise the Emperor from its roof however met with little success.

After following some more leads, the two were finally able to find a Warp portal to take them on their way. But not before Privit tossed a coin in a fountain, unwittingly dooming them to return here!

Thats all for now! Let us know where you think the pair will go next, down in the comments!
