Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg team up to kill vampires in SoCal in Day Shift. It looks action-packed and gore-soaked.

Day Shift tells a semi-familiar story – a down-on-his-luck dad wants to support his family. When his pool cleaning job doesn’t cut it, he falls back on something riskier. He joins a group of professional vampire hunters that pays cash for fangs.

Chad Stahelski (co-creator of the John Wick franchise) being on board ensures it is heavy on the action and amazing fight choreography. The urban fantasy looks like a lot of fun with creative kills and plenty of gunfire and gore. I’m expecting an action comedy about vampire bounty hunters that need money fast. Not a treatise on economic disparity. Hopefully, it won’t take itself as seriously as Bright did.

We got a behind-the-scenes look at Day Shift during Geeked Week last month that shows off some of the action scenes and a couple of vampire contortionists.

Day Shift

The movie brings Snoop back into the realm of horror. He’s joined by Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Meagan Good, and Karla Souza. J.J. Perry is directing.

In Day Shift, Jamie Foxx stars as a hard-working blue-collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted daughter, but his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income: hunting and killing vampires as part of an international Union of vampire hunters.

Day Shift drops on Netflix on Friday, August 12th.
