More hints are coming for the Rings of Power show in these new TV spots.

Amazon’s The Rings of Power is coming out in a few months. We’ve got a ton of pictures for it by now and it’s starting to look really cool. Now a couple of new TV spots show off more of the show.

Nothing is Evil…

The first one coming out the other day shows off a few seconds of shots. Over the shots we get the text “Nothing Is Evil… In the Beginning.” This no doubt has some interesting connotations for the show and what it is about.

In the Beginning

The spot starts off with a shot of two people holding hands. These look a bit dirty and I’m guess they are Harfoots. Next up we get shots of three different elves. Of particular note is some great new looks at Gil-Galad, the Elven King. An elf of whom the harpers will one day sadly sing. I for one am pretty hyped for him.

The second half of the spot is a longer shot of a ship entering the harbor of a city. This is clearly a Númenorean harbor. I would guess based on the text the the “nothing is evil in the beginning” is mostly a reference to Númenor. We’ve got a pretty good guess that the show is going to deal with the corruption and fall of Númenor and that seems to be what this is pointing at.

A New Era TV Spot

The second spot has the text “This could be the beginning of a New Era” over it. It heavily features Galadriel. It also features a lot of shots of destruction. We’ve got both what looks like volcanoes and what seems to be flooding.

Is… this the sinking of Númenor? We know that is going to happen at some point. These shots seem very reminiscent of that. And yet to get that in Season 1 of the show seems pretty quick. That would imply the first season is covering all of the forging of the rings, two wars vs Sauron, the corruption of Númenor and side plots with the Harfoots and Dwarves. This seems like a ton!

I suppose another option is that it’s a fake-out in the ad spot. Maybe it’s something totally different. Maybe it’s a vision of the future? Or maybe we are getting flashbacks to the destruction of Beleriand at the end of the War of Wrath. Either way, it seems like stuff is going to get blown up!

Let us know what you think of these new spots, down in the comments!
