An epic new behind-the-scenes short gives us a sweet look at season two of the Wheel of Time.

After a period with only a little info on Season Two of the Wheel of Time, we’ve now gotten some hot news. SDCC has opened the floodgates on the news front. In a short period of time, we’ve got both a major announcement and a new teaser.

The Wheel of Time Gets a Third Season

Season Two of the Wheel of Time won’t be out for a few months, but this week at SDCC they confirmed the show is greenlit for a third season. Not long after the SDCC announcement Amazon put out its own release. Some people might be a bit surprised by this. After all not everyone loved season one. Still, it seems like Amazon is confident in the show, and maybe it did better for them than it seemed. Truth be told, I’m not upset with this. A canceled show can’t get any better. Let’s hope season two redeems the show, and season three is great.

The Teaser

Not only did The Wheel of Time get a third season, but it also got a behind-the-scenes teaser for season two. This is one of the longest looks we’ve gotten. Overall it looks pretty good.

A Spoiler-Free Impression of the Look of Season 2

Overall the little teaser looked great. I also really dug the music, though I’m not sure if it’s going to be in the show itself, or just something for this teaser. But without getting into spoilers I think we saw a lot of things the book fans will like. For instance, there is a wheel. It’s the Wheel of Time. It’s probably a metaphor.

Also, Indiana Jones is there for some reason. Kidding, it’s just broody Rand in the mists. Not a ton of Rand in this teaser, but it looks like he’s going to be brooding a bit. Which makes sense.

We got a number of shots of Aiel and White Cloaks in the season two look. We’ve got this shot of what seems to be an Aiel fighting a White Cloak. While we should have some Aiel showing up more by now, this seems to maybe be moving things around a bit. The teaser also had a lot more desert scenes than I would have expected. It does however gives us plenty of Lan and Moiraine. Mostly taking walks on a beach.

We’ve also got a few shots that seem to be giving us direct scenes from the book. There’s this one, which seems to be a famous scene with a Fade. We also get what looks like it might be Matt’s classic stave fighting scene. Overall it looks pretty cool.

Plenty to Look Forward to in Season 2

Interestingly there weren’t many – if any –  shots of the Seanchan. They were introduced at the end of the last season, and play a major role in Book 2. I’m guessing they hid shots of them to avoid spoilers, but it’s odd not to see them show up. Despite my disappointments with Season 1, I am looking forward to Season 2. This is still a story I enjoy and hope for good things to come of it.

Lets us know what you think of the teaser for season 2, down in the comments!
