Spelljammer is out in the wild(space) and the table of contents reveals everything that lurks in Spelljammer: Adventures in Space.

It was only a matter of time folks. Spelljammer is out in the wild now. And as copies make their way to reviewers and creators (you can expect more soon), previews are making the rounds.

Today we’ve got a look at the official Tables of Contents? Table of Contents (tables of contents’ss’?) for Spelljammer: Adventures in Space. Want to know what lurks in the three-book boxed set? Now’s your chance to find out. But be warned, spoilers ahead.

Alright, let’s get to it.

Spelljammer Table of Contents

Full credit to Mike Long of Tribality, who showcased the beautiful books this past Saturday. And in among the previews we got a glimpse of monsters. Some we know, like the giant space hamster:

While other monsters are stranger still. You can go check out the twitter thread if you want a better look. But what about the tables of contents? Tableeaux of Contentia? It’s a unique situation since Spelljammer is a three-book set. And that means three different tables of contents. First up, the Astral Adventurer’s Guide.

This is the one most folks will be interested in as it reveals the full suite of confirmed player options. As you can see there are six new playable races:

  • Astral Elf
  • Autognome
  • Giff
  • Hadozee
  • Plasmoid
  • Thri-Kreen

There’s also a section on how Spelljamming works. Notably, there’s a sidebar on Fire in Wildspace. And we know that concepts like the Phlogiston are gone, so it’s not necessarily intensely inflammable, but you never know.

We’ve seen a little about air envelopes and how movement in Wildspace works. But of particular interest are the rules on Ship-to-Ship combat as well as rules for Creating a Wildspace system.

You’ll also get sixteen different Spelljamming ship stat blocks. Sadly, no official rules on creating your own ship, but with any luck, it’ll be fairly intuitive.

Boo’s Astral Menagerie, on the other hand, gives us a look at all the new monsters in the setting. Something like 73 new monsters lurking in store. Might want to watch out for Vampirates and Space Guppies.

Finally Light of Xaryxis gives us a look at the chapters in the included adventurer, designed for 5th-level characters.

Which coincidentally happens to be what level you’ll end up at if you play through Spelljammer Academy. There’s still time since the book isn’t officially out for another week yet.

Happy Adventuring
