Games Workshop has shown off all the contents of the Slaves To Darkness Launch set. It’s going to be a long wait until their release.

The Chaos Warriors of the Slaves to Darkness have been my jam in Warhammer for a long time. I love the idea of an intimidating Iron Wall of heavily armoured warriors marching forward and crushing everything in their path — all for the glory of chaos! So when Games Workshop first announced the Slaves to Darkness we getting a new book along with a new batch of units I was pleased. They will be a welcome addition to my Chaos Horde for sure.

Slave To Darkness Launch Set

I’m personally excited about all three of the units in this box. Starting with the top, the Chaos Daemon Prince looks awesome! I’m digging the fact that it’s got multiple head options so you can build him however you want — to serve whichever chaos god your army is themed around.

I also appreciate that Games Workshop made this kit a double-kit for 40k, too.

I love that it’s got some key callbacks to previous Daemon Prince kits and that you can give him wings or that fancy backpack. I have a feeling this is going to be a very popular kit for both systems!

Secondly, I’m pumped about the new Ogoriod Theridons! I’m hoping there’s some way to build a whole Ogroid army from the book. I don’t know if I’ll be able to field…but I sure want to give it a go! They look like the Chaos Minotaurs I didn’t know I needed but always wanted.

Plus, who doesn’t like a heavy hitting unit option in their roster! These guys look like they bring the beef to every fight and I can’t wait to bust them out on the tabletop.

And finally, there’s the Chaos Chosen models! This new plastic kit looks great and finally replaces the old finecast versions.

Each one of these models looks like a character in their own right. Heck, each one could have been an exclusive miniature for the Slaves to Darkness and I wouldn’t have been surprised. I want to learn the backstory of each of these Chosen of chaos. We probably won’t ever get that…but that just means we’ll have to forge our own stories with them on the tabletop!

The new boxed set is due out in the winter. My anticipation for this box is going to make this one of the longest winters ever…at least to me. Bring on the Slaves to Darkness!

I’m going to have to get at least 2 Chaos Daemon Princes. One for AoS and one for 40k. And then there’s the matter of the wings…
