Age of Sigmar: Three Things I Hope We See in the New Tzeentch Battletome

Change is Tzeentch’s whole thing; here’s hoping all the upcoming changes are good ones.

The brand new Disciples of Tzeentch battletome is up for preorder, and it promises an exciting update to the servants of the Raven god. As a huge Tzeentch fan myself, I’m stoked to see the changes, especially in light of what we saw from Arcane Cataclysm. Of course, like with all fans, I have a long wishlist of things I want to see in the book, but I’ve narrowed it down to my three top items. Here’s hoping the Changer of Ways reads my posts.

Keep Kairic Acolytes as Wizards

I will fully admit that this could just be an oversight on my part, but when we reviewed Arcane Cataclysm it looked like they’d taken away the conditional spellcasting from the Kairic Acolytes. Assuming that Tzeentch still gets points from successful spells, that’s going to make Kairics basically useless if it’s true, so I’m hoping it isn’t. Acolytes need to be wizards for at least PART of their life, or they’re just a point sink with no place in the army. I personally love the Acolytes, so I’m hoping I just missed it the first time or that it was a misprint in the Cataclysm box.

More Ways to Generate Destiny Dice

One of the coolest parts of the DoT for me was the Destiny Dice, allowing players to alter their fate by predetermining their rolls. While you get nine before the game, and there are a few ways to generate them, they are still a resource that runs out extremely quickly. I’d love to see more ways for Tzeentch players to replenish their Destiny pool, either through spells or items, so that spending them isn’t quite as much of a cost.

Make Tzaangors Magic

Tzaangors have been the military arm of the Arcanites since their inception, and they’re amazing beaters, but the lack of magical aptitude makes them feel a little out of place in the Tzeentch army. I’d love to see them get a conditional wizard keyword or even some sort of “bound spell” ability to help them generate Fate points. Admittedly this is pretty low on my list, but it would still be cool.

What do you hope to see in the new book?
