‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’ Takes Action Movies to New Heights
The latest Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning trailer starts with a death-defying plane ride.
It’s been four years since we’ve gotten to catch up with Ethan and the crew. Part of that is due to Mission: Impossible 7 going through rough patches, which included the pandemic shutting down production. They wrapped principal filming in the fall of 2021. It was given a 2022 release date only to be pushed back to summer 2023, which means the second part will be in production long before the first makes it to theaters.
The move also gave Top Gun: Maverick the ability to completely take over the box office this summer.
The Mission Impossible franchise has always taken its action sequences up to eleven. Now its trailer intros do, too. Don’t try any of this at home, folks.
The next addition to the M:I franchise has plenty of gadgets, action, and intrigue. Hopefully, it’ll make fans ok with the five-year wait. Those car chases, hand to hand, running (on top of trains, no less), and jumping off high places look amazing. I’m taking advantage of it being released in IMAX.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Details
It’s hooking into Fallout, but nothing is known about the plot beyond that. Christopher McQuarrie is writing/directing again, and the core cast that’s been a part of the franchise for nearly 30 years is back. That includes Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Rebecca Ferguson. Esai Morales (who played Deathstroke in Titans) will be playing one of the antagonists the crew has to deal with. Plus Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Rob Delaney, Charles Parnell, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Greg Tarzan Davis, and Cary Elwes.
I’m sure there will be more previews and information before the movie drops next year.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is coming to theaters on July 14, 2023.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two comes out on June 28, 2024.
