Five Mutants We Want to See in the MCU

Is this it? Is this the year the MCU finally introduces Marvel’s mutants into the cinematic universe? I hope we meet these characters.

Thanks to a series of easter eggs in Marvel’s She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel TV shows, we know that the X-gene is officially a part of the MCU. Kamala Khan‘s mutant abilities will likely be further explained in July’s The Marvels, and we know that Wolverine has already caused a stir by brandishing his “metal claws in a bar brawl”.

We’ve seen a fair amount of the mutant corner of the Marvel universe, so the MCU will have to put its own spin on mutant characters. There are some comic book mutants that would fit really well into the MCU – and some favorites we just really, really want to see on the screen.

5. Wiccan & Speed

Okay, this one is a bit of a given. I mean, the MCU is clearly laying the groundwork for a Young Avengers team at some point. We’ve already met the younger versions of Billy and Tommy as Wanda’s magically-created children in Wandavision. The question is when will we meet them? Are they 616 versions of Billy and Tommy that, for whatever reason, weren’t born to Wanda? Or will they join the MCU thanks to America Chavez‘s dimension-traveling powers?

As the MCU explores the mutant world, introducing the twins won’t just fill out a Young Avengers lineup – it will also create some tension if (when) Elizabeth Olsen returns as the Scarlet Witch.

4. Marrow

Marrow’s powers are some of the coolest of the mutants. This hero/villain/anti-hero grows bones outside of her body that can be removed and used as weapons. As a character, she grows from a rebellious teenage Morlock to a member of the X-Men. It’s a compelling journey I’d love to see on screen – along with the rest of the Morlocks.

3. Callisto

If you hadn’t gathered, I’m definitely pro-Morlock in the MCU. Sure, we’ve already had a live-action Callisto, but I think the MCU could really draw inspiration from the character’s punk-rock stylings and literal underground vibe. Plus any character that heralds back to the golden days of the 90s X-Men cartoon is a win in my book.

2. Dazzler

Honestly, do I even have to explain this one? Dazzler is a vintage fan favorite, and her ability to produce really cool and dynamic light shows could be stunning on screen. My apologies to Marvel’s digital artists in advance.

1. Kid Omega/Quentin Quire

If I only get one mutant from this list in the MCU, please let it be this guy.

Quentin Quire first appeared in Grant Morrison’s New X-Men run, and he’s a smart-ass teen with a genius-level intellect, telepathic powers, and the best collection of t-shirts in the Marvel universe. Kid Omega, as he calls himself, is a mutant kid with an attitude, and he’d be great on screen, both for fight scenes and for comedic quips to break tension.

Which mutants are you hoping to see join the MCU?
