In addition to WotC’s Pride campaign merch, which supports the Trevor Project, D&D has a lot going on for Pride 2023.

It’s Pride month, and this year D&D—and specifically D&D Beyond is taking on a new, community-focused approach. Since its acquisition by WotC, D&D Beyond has become even more of a “community hub” as it’s where the corporation interfaces more directly with its users. That and the future of D&D is digital, and with WotC’s big virtual tabletop initiative coming around the corner, D&D Beyond is where that rubber meets the information superhighway’s road.

For D&D’s Pride 2023 celebration, you’ll find all manner of queer content, from a creator spotlight to rainbow dice, adventures, and more. Let’s take a look!

D&D Pride 2023 – Rainbow Dice, Rainbow Creators, Rainbow Shirts

Look, you can’t spell rainbow capitalism without rainbow and that is doubly true when it comes to D&D. We’ve talked about their 2023 Pride Merchandise campaign to help the Trevor Project in-depth earlier this month. It’s still going on. But in a nutshell, WotC is partnering with LGBTQIA+ nonprofit, The Trevor Project, to bring you new shirts, tank tops, and hoodies with the Pride Ampersand on them.

All proceeds benefit the Trevor Project, which goes a long way to providing LGBTQIA+ youth with much-needed care and resources in an effort to end suicide among LGBTQ+ young people.

But that’s just the beginning. Over at D&D Beyond, you can claim a free set of digital dice throughout June, the Dice of True Color, as seen here:

We believe that Dungeons & Dragons can serve as a safe space for self-expression. To celebrate Pride Month in 2023, Wizards of the Coast is rereleasing the Dice of True Color digital dice set on D&D Beyond as a free claimable.

The Dice of True Color represent geodes with a rainbow of colors glimmering inside. When used in your games, we want you to be reminded to celebrate every aspect of yourself that makes you who you are.

In addition to that, D&D Beyond has a post on its front page right now spotlighting 9 queer creators and designers whose work has left an indelible mark on 5th Edition.

Pride Month takes place in June and honors the historic 1969 Stonewall Uprising, a series of events primarily led by lesbian and trans women of color that became pivotal moments in the history of the queer rights movement. Today, Pride Month blends elements of visibility, celebration, and joy, with continued advocacy for rights and protections for all queer folks.

Many things have changed in the decades since that rebellion, like language. Some words have fallen out of use, new words have been created, and older words have taken on new meanings. Terms like “gay” and “queer” that were previously wielded as slurs have been reclaimed with pride and confidence. In the sections that follow, the words used to describe each creator came directly from them; these are the words they have thoughtfully chosen to identify themselves. Each of these creators are more than simply their queer identity—they are formidable writers and designers whose work stands on its own merit. And yet, as I think you’ll see, their queer identities are intricately and beautifully woven into their work, simply because queer people write queer content.
