Hold on to your wallets because they are going to want to jump on these 40k Battleforces from Games Workshop!

Games Workshop is back with six new Holiday Battleforces for Warhammer 40,000. Fitting since we just saw the AoS ones drop earlier today. Anyhow, we’ve got the list and it’s looking pretty spicy. Let’s dig into them.

“The festive season always brings some extra-special goodies in the form of annual Warhammer 40,000 army  boxes. These amazing boxed sets are packed to the brim with miniatures, and make a brilliant way to start a new project or reinforce your favourite faction.”

Defenders of the Ancestors

Contents

  • Einhyr Champion
  • 10x Einhyr Hearthguard
  • Hekaton Land Fortress
  • Grimnyr
  • Sagitaur ATV

This Battleforce for the Leagues of Votann leans hard into the Einhyr options. Honestly, if you’re looking for some deep rock miners that bring their own rides and power armour then this box is for you!

Beast Snagga Stampede

Contents

  • Beastboss on Squigosaur
  • 3x Squighog Boyz
  • Nob on Smasha Squig
  • Painboss
  • 10x Beast Snagga Boyz
  • Kill Rig

Do you want to play an Ork Beast Snagga army? Because this is basically that. I dunno if there will be a limit on these per customer but I think that two of these boxes would basically be all you’d really need to get that job done. Because Beastboss on Squigosaur can also be Mozrog Skragbad, you really could get two and have both sets of all the options.

Cadian Defence Force

Contents

  • 20x Cadian Shock Troops
  • Cadian Command Squad (5 models)
  • 2x Rogal Dorn Battle Tanks

It’s infantry and two tanks for Astra Militarum. Seems about right. I have no notes.

Space Marines Spearhead Force

Contents

  • Captain with Jump Pack
  • 15x Jump Pack Intercessors
  • 3x Outriders
  • Invader ATV

When Space Marines want to go fast they have options. Many of those options are in this box. If you want a literal Space Marine Spearhead…well, that’s what this is called for a really good reason.

Onslaught Swarm

Contents

  • Norn Emissary
  • Winged Hive Tyrant
  • 20x Hormagaunts
  • 10x Genestealers
  • 2x Ripper Swarms

It’s a ravenous horde of little bugs with a pair of really big ones to smash into the enemy lines. Honestly, because just about all these models are new (save the classic and iconic Winged Hive Tyrant) this is a really good box for any new Tyranid players. You can always use more little bugs and the mix of Hormagaunts and Genestealers is good. If you missed the Norn Emissary or wanted an Assimilator instead, this box is for you.

Exalted of the Red Angel

Contents

  • Angron, Daemon Primarch of Khorne
  • 10x Khorne Berzerker
  • 6x Exalted Eightbound

This is really just an Angron Boxed set with some extras. I really want to know the price on this box because I thought I was gonna get away without having to buy a 40k Battleforce this year. But now…I might have to snag this one just for an Angron and extras if the price is right.

As far as an army, how does it stack-up? It’s got Angron and some dudes. If they can make it to the enemy they will probably tear them up. You’ll need some transports or support to really make this work but Angron will soak a LOT of shots for them. This is a good core but you’ll need more to make it succeed on the tabletop.
