The events of the Arathian Succession are getting crazy. Will other parts of the Imperium take notice?

Necromunda is basically in a state of civil war right now. If you’ve been following the narrative events of the Arathian Succession then you know that there have been some planetary upheavals happening. If you haven’t, that’s okay because GW has you covered with a quick run down of the events so far. It’s a great recap and worth reading if you’ve been missing out.

Necromunda And Imperial Intervention

This brings us to the question posed at the title: Will the Imperium step in to help clean up the mess on Necromunda? It’s kind of a big deal when a major producer of goods (like Necromunda is) has a disruption in production. The tithes must be paid and the Imperium demands them. You don’t want to catch their ire, right? But will they even notice?

The Imperium of Mankind spans the galaxy and it’s a pretty big place. For the most part, habitable worlds are run by a planetary government and they basically get left alone as long as the tithes get paid. Sure, their might be a Space Marine chapter that gathers recruits from your planet. Or their might be some Xeno threat/activity but for the most part, these planets are basically left to govern themselves.

How else do you explain planets that have Genestealer Cults that take root? If anything, these planets get overlooked because their production/tithes actually increase when the GSC ramps-up. Those extra arms come in handy!

But we’re not talking about the GSC infested planets. We’re talking about Necromunda. And for the past few generations the Noble House that’s been in charge, House Helmawr, has run things with an iron fist. And now…well, things are in disarray. Lady Haera Helmawr is trying to maintain her grip on power but it’s not working so well.

There’s also a “new” power that’s risen up on the surface. Ozostium Aranthus, a powerful psyker from the Lost House Aranthus has gathered his forces and he’s posed to make a comeback. And that’s basically where we’re at now. So will the Imperium step in?

I doubt it. Why? Well, again, for the most part the Imperium-at-large has their own issues to deal with. As long as the tithes come in, they don’t really care about planetary politics. And yeah, a civil war is a big deal — but if the tithes can get back in order before the bureaucracy of the Imperium notices, then they won’t interfere. Why would they? Again, this is a single planet out of millions. A minor dip in production isn’t going to warrant Exterminatus on the planet, right?

I think the most interference you might see is that some Imperial Bureaucrat learns that this Ozostium Aranthus is an unsanctioned psyker and maybe an Imperial Assassin gets sent in. But even that is a long shot. No I think the events of the Aranthian Succession are going to unfold on the planet Necromunda and eventually someone will consolidate power. Things won’t change and the Imperial Tithes will start back up again. And the Imperium-at-large will be none the wiser.

What do you think? Will Imperial forces be deployed on the planet of Necromunda or will things settle down once the tithes start back-up?
