Fans have been waiting for this movie for what feels like ages – the first Furiosa trailer is here, and it’s everything you want it to be.

The instant Charlize Theron’s Furiosa appeared on screen, we all knew she was the badass to watch. This wasn’t Tom Hardy’s movie – it was hers.

Nick Lathouris and George Miller’s script was completed before principal photography even started on Fury Road. Furiosa will fill in the fan-favorite character’s story, including more about her time with the Vuvalini and the ‘Green Place’ she was seeking. And how she ended up driving a war rig for Immortan Joe.

There’s a backward time shift between Fury Road and Furiosa, so Anya Taylor-Joy is taking over the character from Charlize Theron. The actor has much to live up to, Theron’s performance was fantastic. Taylor-Joy spoke to Total Film about the movie…

“The main thing that [director] George [Miller] and I spoke about was that Fury Road is a road movie. It takes place over, I think, three days: getting somewhere, and then turning around, and coming back. And this is an epic. This takes place over a long period of time, and you get to know [Furiosa] better in that way. I love that character so much. That whole experience was mind-boggling, and George is the best. I hope that [people] enjoy it.”

First Furiosa Trailer

This movie will be even more significant in scale than its predecessor. Production designer Colin Gibson has mentioned that Furiosa has more vehicles in it – they built 135 for Fury Road.

Yep, it’s bigger, all right. Take a look…

Miller has gotten the behind-the-camera gang back together—and it shows in all the best ways. I cannot wait to see this on an IMAX screen. Anya Taylor-Joy is a good choice for a young Furiosa. She’s fierce and fearless but still a bit feral. It’s good to see Hemsworth branching out from Thor and Extraction into something more… odd and unhinged.

Furiosa Cast & Details

The top cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, and Daniel Webber. Director George Miller has reassembled the crew from Fury Road for this one—stunt coordinators Guy Norris and Tim Wong, director of photography Simon Duggan, sound designer Robert Mackenzie, plus costume designer Jenny Beavan and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt. Junkie XL is penning the score.

As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.
