Station Forge

Station Forge has an advantage on many other digital print subscriptions, they don’t specialize in one theme or motif, they offer an incredibly wide variety of sculpts and themes as well as terrain and bases. If you’re in the market for a subscription that has no trouble handling grimdark style, orcs, space bugs, space guard, dieselpunk, and cyberpunk, Station Forge has products for nearly any Sci-Fi genre.  These sculpts seamlessly integrate into a wide range of popular games, such as Space Station Zero, Stargrave, and One Page Rules: Grimdark Future, enhancing the visual appeal and immersion of these popular games Sci-Fi games.

Station Forge keeps ease-of-use top of mind, by providing pre-supported models that make 3D printing a snap. The experience of printing their models has been overwhelmingly positive, with print failures being a rare occurrence.

If there’s one minor drawback to Station Forge’s offerings, it’s that because of the wide variety of miniature lines that they offer you can be stuck waiting for some time for a particular army or line to receive reinforcements. However, if you’re less concerned about collecting just one of their ranges, you’ll be happy with the variety. The monthly cost, $10, is well in line with the many other monthly subscriptions, and you get an absolute glut of miniatures each month.

Station Forge remains a great subscription if army building is top of mind. If you’re in search of a workhorse subscription, awe-inspiring sculpts with similarities and inspiration from today’s popular games and model lines.

Witchsong Miniatures

Whether you’re a D&D fanatic, a fan of fantasy skirmish games like Yafsiga, or into One Page Rules Fantasy Battle offerings, Witchsong Miniatures has something for you. They offer a catalog of 125+ .stls (and growing), so you’ll never struggle to find the perfect STL for your campaign or game.  Beyond that, Gold members get exclusive discounts on previous releases, typically 50% off. This studio has truly carved out its niche in the world of fantasy prints, offering a distinctive menagerie of fantasy monsters, whimsical creatures and truly unique takes on well-known characters and themes. As someone who dabbles in various fantasy skirmish games, Witchsong offers collectors and gamers something fresh.

I love, love, love the philosophy of this company.  For $1 a month you get a couple of ultra high-quality miniatures perfect for any fantasy setting.  It’s hard to find a better value than $1 in the world of monthly 3D printing subscriptions, and Wintersong consistently delivers.  Not only do you get a playable character piece for your tabletop sessions, but for those interested in RPGs specifically, each sculpt comes with a stat block, description, and list of abilities for a DM to utilize.  Anything that makes the life of a DM easier is a plus in my book.

In a world where excess is everything, Witchsong offers a nice change.  It’s always great to have more options but sometimes that can feel consistently overwhelming.  With some subscriptions, you feel like you’re getting a whole army delivered every month, and rather than having a physical pile of shame, you have a digital pile of shame that just keeps growing and growing.

Witchsong offers something for people looking for gaming sculpts but also has something for artists.  While many subscriptions have the occasional art bust or artifact included in their monthly drop, Witchsong is probably the only one that offers both for each release.  With that being said, Witchsong is the right price, the right quality, and all miniatures come pre-supported for ease of use.  A+ all around.

Above you can see a glimpse of the stunning bust of Cerberus in all its glory.  Having printed out this miniature for a friend, its truly amazing to glimpse in person.  It’s chopped full of detail, and I appreciate that each head personifies a different pose and emotion.  Witchsong has done an awesome job delivering quality over .stl bloat, which I very much appreciate, all for the amazing monthly price of $1.  Run…don’t walk to your nearest computer and sign up for this subscription. It doesn’t disappoint!
