So you want to be a big friendly buff type who can literally carry the party? Well here’s five different options for you!

D&D 5th Edition, as a game, overwhelmingly favors both Strength and Charisma. Melee characters go for Strength to use with Great Weapon Mastery and Polearm Mastery or other combat options. While fully half of the Spellcasting classes rely exclusively on Charisma. And if you’re a Paladin, you want plenty of both.

And that calls to mind another character archetype known for having a lot of Strength and Charisma: himbos. We’ve talked about how to play them, but what should you pick when you want to play one?

As the title suggests, here are five different big guys to play when you want to be your best himbo.

Bugbear

Let’s kick things off with one of the rarer options. Sure you’ve got your Half-Orcs and full Orcs and such. But consider the humble Bugbear. Not only does the name sound like something you’d call a Himbo as a sort of pet name, but Bugbears are big fuzzy guys who are surprisingly adept at sneaking around.

So much so that they have an ability called Sneaky, which lets them turn up in the most unexpected places. Including places where someone that big shouldn’t turn up. Which is extremely hilarious. And they come with the all-important Powerful Build which means they are super strong as a sort of baseline option no matter what you play.

Loxodon

The Elephantine Loxodon, out of Guildmaster’s Guide to Ravnica, are described as “lumbering giants” who tower above most other humanoids with thick leathery skin. And just look at the artwork here. There’s no way that Loxodon Cleric is not a Himbo, somehow.

Especially since Loxodons are known for being relentlessly loyal, as well as surprisingly adroit stoneworkers with a penchant for natural serenity that makes them resistant to charm and fear, and makes them slow to anger, like a good Himbo should be.

Finally, they too have Powerful Build, which does a lot of heavy lifting for you, pun intended.

Firbolg

Firbolgs are another fantastic option. They are the gentler alternative to Bugbears. Where Bugbears are sneaky and have pointy teeth and coarse hair, Firbolgs are also sneaky, but they have big soft fir and are typically more gentle because they’re connected to the wild places of the world.

They can speak to animals and plants, a handy skill shared by the most iconic of Himbos, and they can become magically invisible if they need to be. But their magical ability extends even further, since they can detect magic innately, and can magically disguise themselves if they need to be. But even disguised, they still have Powerful Build.

Goliath

A classic Himbo option. Goliaths are said to be descended from giants, making them perfect for being a big strong type who can do anything. They are resistant to cold damage, which is helpful, and can endure things that would severely injure or even kill other people (at level 1), thanks to their Stone’s Endurance ability. All hallmarks of a great Himbo.

And even though they don’t have it by name, they do have Powerful Build in terms of mechanics. Though here, the ability is called Little Giant, and it gifts them with Athletics.

Plasmoid

Finally, as proof that you don’t have to actually have Powerful Build to be a Himbo, we have the Plasmoid. These blobs of plasma might look like any other ooze, but they can shape themselves to be whatever they want. While they can adopt a ball form because who doesn’t want to just ponder while being an orb? They can also reshape their body to have a head, arms, legs, and even hands and feet.

Just make the body be shaped like an inverted triangle and instant Himbo. Especially since they’re amorphous, and can fit wherever they need to, as well as being able to resist acid and poison, plus they can hold their breaths for an hour. And they delight in taking different shapes and exploring the world around them, with a curiosity perfect for any good Himbo.

Which one would you pick?
