Cyberpunk RED will receive major updates in the coming year, with an Edgerunners-themed expansion and a new campaign.

Cyberpunk RED kicks off 2024 with a bang. Our team at GAMA got a look at the new Edgerunners Mission Kit coming later this year, as well as a few of the other upcoming titles from R. Talsorian Games. Of course, the most exciting thing is the Edgerunners Mission Kit, which puts you in the time frame of the hit anime. With character art and new rules for Quickhacks and other 2077 tech, this will practically be a new way to play.

But Edgerunners isn’t the only thing coming to Cyberpunk RED, as you’ll see. We got a brief look at the first published campaign for Cyberpunk RED, Tales of the RED: Forlorn Hope, as well as Interface RED vol. 3. Check out what’s headed for Night City in 2024.

Cyberpunk RED 2024 Updates – Edgerunners Mission Kit

First up, the Cyberpunk Edgerunners Mission Kit will be here at last. It is a whole new start set/update for Cyberpunk’s setting. Are you curious about the lore of Cyberpunk 2077 and how things got to be the way they are in either Edgerunners or the game? Well, R. Talsorian has you covered, complete with updates from the story writer of Edgerunners:

Curious about Rebecca’s past? Want to know more about Lucy’s life before she met David? We’ve got you covered. The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mission Kit will contain biographies of David, Lucy, Rebecca, Maine, and the rest of the crew straight from Bortosz Sztybor, story writer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

And we aren’t stopping there. The world of Cyberpunk is an alternate history, starting with the Collapse of the 1990s, pushing through the 4th Corporate War of the 2020s and the Unification War of the 2060s, and slamming straight into the roaring 2070s. We’ll lay it all out for you: the backstory, the technology, and even what daily life is like in Night City. All as told by world creator Mike Pondsmith and the writers at R. Talsorian Games and CD Projekt Red.

The Edgerunners Mission Kit will come with a new lore book, a rulebook, and a brand new gig called The Jacket, as well as maps, Edgerunner-themed dice, and standees to play with. But perhaps most exciting are the pre-generated characters with illustrations from Hiroyuki Imaishi, the director of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

There are a number of different character options.

Including Bluescreen, a Netrunner who makes extensive use of the new Quickhack rules.

There’s also the nomad, Wrench, who uses a smart shotgun.

On Hardpoint, the Solo, you might notice the new Power Weapon category. The Edgerunners Mission Kit will add rules for Power, Smart, and Tech weapons from Cyberpunk 2077. So soon, you can shoot through walls and ricochet your bullets into enemies from around corners.

Tales of the RED: Forlorn Hope

But that’s not all you can expect to see. Coming “later in 2024” is the first full-fledged campaign book for Cyberpunk RED. Tales of the RED: Forlorn Hope will be a follow-up to a classic Cyberpunk 2020 adventure. Consisting of six missions, the campaign will put your crew on a job to save the Forlorn Hope, one of the best Edgerunner spots in all of Night City:

“Tales of the RED: Forlorn Hope is a Campaign book for Cyberpunk RED, the latest edition of the classic tabletop roleplaying game of the Dark Future. This is a full length campaign of six missions, covering everything from Friday Night Firefights to high society booze heists to the biggest bar brawl ever.”

Now to go queue up the Edgerunners soundtrack and cry, thinking about the Moon.
