Age of Sigmar: Global Battle For ‘Hel Crown’ Commences This Summer
Games Workshop is kicking off another Global Battle to determine the fate of Hel Crown. Which side will you choose this summer?
Warhammer: Age of Sigmar players get ready for your chance to shape history. Similar to the Warhammer 40,000 10th edition launch (the Battle for Oghram), Games Workshop is running another launch-box event for AoS. This time, its to decide the fate of Hel Crown — a pivotal stronghold in the new war against the Skaven.
“Should the forces of Order hold Hel Crown, it would be the ideal beachhead from which to strike deep into the heart of the Gnaw. The Skaven, for their part, are all too aware that this flank of the Gnaw may yet be seized by the storm-things after their first encounters with the Ruination chambers. Rats have swarmed forth in their thousands to claim this vital port, further curdling its surface and causing the very air to scratch at the lungs of mortal intruders. Its surface is now pocked with warpstone mines to obliterate unsuspecting strike forces whilst Jezzail sniper-posts line the island’s edges. Hidden monster pens full of Moulder experiments writhe with mutant filth, just waiting to be sprung free via carefully laid traps.”
The Battle For Hel Crown – Age of Sigmar
There’s a couple of things to note. First up, is when the event is going down. Thankfully GW has answers:
“The Battle for Hel Crown will run for three weeks after the release of the massive Skaventide launch box.”
So, for three weeks after the Skaventide launch players will be able to submit there results starting on the 15th of July 2024. But how/where will you submit those results? Great question. And again, GW has the answer:
“Each set contains a leaflet with a QR code pointing you to a website where you can log your contribution to the battle. At the end of the battle, we will proclaim the winner – and fully reveal all the upcoming releases for the victorious faction.”
So, once again, this is very similar to the 40k event. The faction that wins (Stormcast or Skaven) will get their releases revealed first. So there IS something worth fighting over for this event. I’m kind of on the fence for this one in terms of which batch of releases I’m more excited for. Eh, who am I kidding — I want to see the Skaven stuff! That said, if you’re like me and don’t play Skaven (or Stormcast for that matter) you can still participate. This one is basically Order vs everyone:
“As the Stormcast and Skaven battle inside the city, other factions will take their chance to seize power in the area. You will be able to enter battle results between Order and all other factions at the same site.”
Personally, I would have liked to see Death and Destruction with the option to cast their victories on either side — depending on who they were battling. I could totally see Nagash sending in some Nighthaunt to score some payback on the Skaven. But I could also see the forces of Destruction just playing in all the carnage.
So whichever side you choose get ready for this Global Battle to kick off July 15, 2024! Get your Skaventide box and prepare to go to war (on the tabletop).
