‘X-Files’ And ‘Wallace & Gromit’ Sets Win LEGO ’90s Throwback Challenge

The winners have been announced – X-Files and Aardman fans are getting sets they can buy and build!
460 sets were entered into the ’90s Throwback challenge. The two winners have been announced, and they’re being turned into sets fans can add to their LEGO collection. Release dates haven’t been shared, but I’m expecting mid next year.
Congrats to the winners!
The X-Files
Created by WetWired, this double-decker set includes Mulder’s cluttered office (includes the iconic ‘I Want to Believe’ poster on the wall) and an encounter with an extra-terrestrial ship and other strange life forms. The two FBI agents are joined by Assistant Director Walter Skinner, The Smoking Man, as well as a Grey Alien, the Jersey Devil, and Eugene Tooms. There are a bunch of fun easter eggs for fans in this set.

Wallace & Gromit
Build the beloved Aardman characters and their main mode of transport – Wallace’s motorcycle with its sidecar for Gromit. The set from Pidelium faithfully recreates the pair as seen on screen and is cleverly designed with no visible studs. It also captures Wallace’s signature delighted grin. This is the perfect set for fans. I just wish it had a chicken. Or a penguin. Maybe in the final version.

Other Challenge Winners
These aren’t the only nostalgic sets hitting shelves. Last year’s ‘If We Could Turn Back Time’ challenge focused on 1980s movies and TV shows. The winning sets are scheduled to be out by the end of the year.
The Goonies
This brick-built version of One-Eyed Willy’s pirate ship, created by Delusion Brick, is going to be out later this year. Follow in the gang’s footsteps in the interior of the set, starting with the Fratellis’ hideout. Mikey, Brand, Chunk, Mouth, Andy, Stef, Data, Sloth, Jake, Francis, Mama Fratelli minifigs are included.

Gizmo
Don’t feed this set after midnight. This Mogwai designed by terauma consists of 400 pieces, making it the perfect size to build while re-watching the movie. His arms and legs move so you can pose him, and he comes with Rambo-inspired Gremlin fighting gear.
Sea Serpent
This fresh take on the Sea Serpent (6057) has 250 and a Black Knights minifig crew won the ‘Twist of Nostalgia’ challenge. HallowedBrick02 added workable rudders, a hold below deck, and a modular stern, allowing for safer storage of high-value cargo.

Axolotl Antics
The adorable salamander with amazing abilities (they can regenerate limbs and organs) was reimagined in brick by DingoBrick for the ‘Pets in Play’ challenge.
During the day, our axolotl burrows into aquatic vegetation and mud. At night, he’s animated, hungry and very active! Whether he’s climbing on rocks, burrowing into vegetation or looking for a snack, he always has a mischievous grin.

Undead Gingerbread
SJs Workshop took the ‘Jack Skellington’s Swap-a-roo’ theme and ran with it, creating something that fits right into the animated classic. The two zombie gingerbread men lurch down a chocolate pathway flanked by winged marshmallow lanterns, white chocolate mice, and jack-o-lantern lollipops.
