Get ready for another look at the heroes battling against the longest odds on Tertium. Warhammer 40K: Darktide showcases another look at a new archetype and class combo. Today is a spotlight all about the Veteran Sharpshooter.
These heroes are the battle-hardened soldiers of the Astra Militarum. Their days in the Imperial Guard have challenged them, but they’ve come out ahead. Only the best, or the luckiest, survive long enough to become Veterans. And in Darktide, that means dealing death through ranged weapons and that most dangerous power of all: teamwork.
Warhammer 40K: Darktide – Veteran Sharpshooter Overview
Like all characters in Warhammer 40K: Darktide, the Veteran Sharpshooter comprises both an archetype and a class. In this case the Archetype is the Veteran. These are members (or former members) of the Guard:
More than anything else, Veterans are survivors. Some persevere through discipline and strict adherence to the regs. Others beg the Emperor of Mankind to see them safely through their battles. Yet more are just plain lucky. But most live on their wits and comradeship. Service in the Imperial Guard teaches you to trust the soldier standing next to you, and a Veteran – more than any – understands the benefits of teamwork.
And survive they do. They are generally good at teamwork and dealing out damage to targets, but the Sharpshooter takes this and runs with it. Veteran Sharpshooters, as the name implies, are all about careful aim and deadly shots.
As such, they gain bonus headshot/weak spot damage. And they can activate an ability to gain even more damage and accuracy at the cost of mobility. This will make you a veritable assassin against elites and special enemies.
But it’s not just single shots that they deal in. Their tactical action is the Frag Grenade, which can tear through hordes of clumped up foes with the Emperor’s swiftness.
