Free RPG Day Is Today! Find Your FLGS, Fun, And Friends

Free RPG Day is today, June 21st, 2025! It’s also the perfect time to hop on down to your FLGS for some free goodies and more!
Free RPG Day is at hand. It’s an amazing tradition that showcases the breadth and depth of the hobby. Like Alexander, you can look upon it—but you need not weep, for the scope of it all reveals how many worlds there are to conquer. So to speak. That is to say, you’ll never have time to play all the games, so you may as well snatch up a few more adventures for free—who knows, you may find your new favorite. Here are some of ours; keep an eye out for ’em today!
Free RPG Day 2025 – Many Worlds, Many Adventures
Free RPG Day is always a good time. Head down to your FLGS, because it’s usually more than just “hey grab this stuff” there are usually folks running games and other events that you can not just pick up some stuff, you can play. You can meet other people. It really has become a celebration of the community.
And if you don’t know where to find Free RPG stuff in your neck of the woods, the link at the end of this article should help you on your way. There are so many fun things on offer this year. I’m particularly excited to see just how many little slices of worlds there are here—which you can explore through short adventures, perfect for one-or-two-shots.
Worlds like Obojima, which offers a look into its stylized 1980s/Studio Ghibli/Legend of Zelda fantasy pastiche with the free adventure, A Great Offering. You climb a mountain to try and help a family while getting to know the island of Obojima.
Both Pathfinder and Starfinder have adventures on offer. We talked about Battle for Nova Rush and Scourge of Sheerleaf a little more in depth yesterday, but both of these adventures showcase different power ends of their respective systems, with Nova Rush being a great preview of the new Starfinder 2E.
Dive into the worlds of Ghostfire Gaming with a trio of adventures: In the Beasts Wake, Whispers of Chaos, and Into the Living Sands for Grim Hollow, Aetherial Expanse, and Arora, respectively. You’ll explore a series of brutal murders in a corrupted village, reclaim a stolen tome from an astral ship, and get swept up in sky pirate hijinks. Fun times, had by all.
Cars and guns feature right on the cover for the action packed Thunder Road: Vendetta RPG, an adventure designed to teach you how to play the upcoming RPG of the same name, due out soon from 9th-level games.
Quickstarts Galore!
But there’s more than just new adventures to play. One of the best things about Free RPG Day is that it’s the perfect place to pick up an intro to a new system so that you and your friends can try it out and see if it’s to your liking. Because trying out new systems is the only way to really know how they’ll feel. Reviews are helpful and are good for getting an idea if you’ll like the vibe—but it’s ultimately at the table where it all comes to a head.
Fortunately, there are plenty of quickstart offerings. These are often rules/adventure/pregenerated characters all in one. A one stop shop for taking a new system for a spin. And they really do emphasize the quick in quickstart. You can pick up and play these in the span of a few hours. Get some friends, get some snacks, and try on a new tabletop system all in an afternoon.
Fans of eldritch horror will be excited to dive into Arkham Horror: the RPG in Comets of Kingsport, a free quickstart adventure for the new RPG. It’s a 32-page booklet that will introduce you to the world, has pregenerated characters, and takes you deep into a town where an ancient artifact is causing havoc.
If you prefer your RPGs a little more on the humorous side, you can sample Monty Python’s Cocurricular Mediaeval Reenactment Programme with its very own quick start rules, adventure, and pre-generated characters, everything you need to play this (not a) roleplaying game.
Or head on down to your Modiphius section. There you’ll find not one, not two, but three different intros to three different RPGs. You can try out the Fallout RPG, Star Trek Adventures, and Dreams and Machines quickstarts at your leisure. These are the perfect little bites to see if you and your group might like the larger system.
Free League is showing off their new Dragonbane system with The Magistrate’s Gambit a tournament adventure for the award-winning new fantasy RPG. In a two-hour long adventure, you’ll have a chance to do everything from solve puzzles to loot treasure, all in the spirit of a big fantasy chess match.
All of this is of course, just the icing on the cake. You can find so much more at your local Free RPG Day or by clicking the link below!
Have a great time at this year’s Free RPG Day!
