Paramount’s Halo: The Series will bring a new story to the franchise– with plenty of care to the existing canon.

The series will follow the game’s Master Chief during the war between the United Nations Space Command and the Covenant. It’s loosely based on the first three games and a bit of Halo: Reach.

December gave us a first look trailer that showed off a bunch of pretty CG environments.

Halo: The Series Story Details

Paramount’s Halo: The Series is being led by the developer behind the first-person shooter franchise, 343 Industries.

According to 343’s head of transmedia Kiki Wolfkill, the series isn’t going to be a complete rehash of the video game. She recently did an interview with Halo Waypoint that included more details.

“We want to use the existing Halo lore, history, canon, and characters wherever they make sense for a linear narrative. But also separate the two distinctly so that we don’t invalidate the core canon or do unnatural things to force a first-person video game into an ensemble TV show.

“You will see many familiar Halo elements. Some are exactly as you’ve seen before and some you will see through the lens of the incredible creatives involved with the show. But all should resoundingly say Halo to you.”

The show is in post-production and CG artists are currently hard at work to meld live-action actors and sets with a massive CG universe. The show is set to premiere on Paramount+ later this year. I’m hoping we get a date when the new, full trailer drops this weekend.
