Mary Elizabeth Winstead is officially joining the upcoming Disney+ series Ahsoka. Which character will she be bringing to the small screen?

We got another big casting announcement this week. It was revealed Mary Elizabeth Winstead will be in Ahsoka. And she will be playing… someone. The galaxy is big and full of characters we’d like to see make their way to the screen. And with all  of those options, these are some of our favorite.

Mara Jade

Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Ahsoka

The Star Wars fandom agrees about few things. In fact, we seem to proudly and angrily disagree about just about everything. It’s a hallmark of he fandom, really. Nicely done.

But one thing we can all (or at least most of us… a lot of us?) agree on is that Disney needs to bring back Mara Jade already. Large portions of her story would have been be re-worked for the current canon. But between Grand Admiral Thrawn‘s presence in this series and the fact that Palpatine with “somehow return” in a little under thirty timeline years, there’s more than enough to work with.

It would be interesting to see if this is a character they’d utilize as a friend or foe. But it’s practically a galactic crime that Disney has been dodging a fan favorite of this magnitude to the new canon. I think it’s about time they fix it.

Ar’alani

Ar’alani is another character on the “Well if Thrawn is coming back…” list. Also originally from Legends, she made the transition to a still-canon character with the more recent Thrawn books.

Ar’alani is an admiral in the Chiss Ascendancy and has a close professional and sometimes friendly relationship with Thrawn and could easily be searching for him parallel to Ahsoka.

Of course, if Ar’alani was making a live action debut, they may just need to cast an Eli Vanto. But that would be the opposite of a problem in my book, Eli is a delight.

Barriss Offee

Barriss is an often overlooked character who has so much to offer Star Wars. She was a Padawan at the same time as Ahsoka and for a time, the two were close friends.

Feeling that the Jedi had lost their way, she was responsible for the bombing of the Jedi Temple that Ahsoka was briefly blamed for. She was throw in Jedi jail while Ahsoka refused to return to the Jedi order for their mistrust of her and that’s the last we see of Barriss Offee.

Even Dave Filoni thinks there’s more to her story, claiming to have plans for her in the future. Ahsoka’s stand-alone series would be as fitting a place as any for her triumphant return.

Hera Syndulla

Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Ahsoka

Ahsoka is gearing up to the be Rebells II. Between confirmed casting for Thrawn and Sabine and Mena Massoud probably portraying Ezra, it would make sense that the Ghost’s group mom should be in the mix. Plus, we’ve already seen a live action Chopper, so we know that angry droid is rolling around a backlot somewhere.

Hera is honestly my top pick for Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Ahsoka right now. She’s always felt responsible for Ezra, so if finding him is even a small part of the story, she’ll likely be there. Does this mean we may also see life action Zeb or Kallus? Or maybe even a nine year old Jacen Syndulla? Fingers crossed!

Which character do you think is best for Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Ahsoka? Which characters would you like to see make the transition onto screen? Who do you want to see cast next? Let us know in the comments!
